I keep hearing from people about a new Ork Codex coming out soon. That would give me an orgasm. Are these rumors I'm just hearing or is this true? Thanks ya gits!

Everything you've heard is a lie. Orks were updated right before 5th edition, and Chaos Space Marines, Eldar, Necrons, Tau, Sisters of Battle, Dark Angels, Black Templars, and Squats are in the queue ahead of them. You might get another codex in 2014-2015, depending on whether Matt Ward has been fired by then.

As far as I know, 40k Orks won't be getting a codex update anytime soon.

However, Orcs and Goblins from WHFB have etiher recently or soon will be getting a codex update. That may be what people are talking about.

I thought the current Ork codex was one of the best out.

Its debatable, however its is considered one of the most viable. There are a lot of builds in that book. I would say for balance, it is on par with the Vanilla dex.

OP: Ork dex won't be seen for a long while. Expect 2013 at the very earliest.

Orc and Goblins is out all ready.

As for the Ork Codex, we seem to be a end of edtion codex, like Orc & Goblin are a start of edtion army book. But, other then a few changes the codex dosen't really need much, maybe more type of Gretchin, plus Squiqs and Snotling would be nice.

Its not. It has its good parts, but the FOC is deeply flawed, it doesn't have proper tools to work well in a 5th ed environment (ranged anti tank, good and cheap dedicated transports), and the No Retreat rule really hurts their basic troop unit.

I honestly think I would rather have the old book over the current one. Or at least make a "chapter approved" modification to address the problems they have. There is a recent precedence for this in the nightspinner unit for eldar (though it didn't really help them much).

While for heavy tanks Orks do have problems, they aren't the only army that lacks capabilities to really stick it to AV14 across the board (tyranids, daemons, witch hunters, etc). However, for anything AV12 or lower (the vast majority of vehicles) Orks have those astounding Lootas that simply terminate medium tanks and light vehicles. They also make up for a lack of survivable dedicated transports by being able to consistently make very good footslogging armies, where many others cannot.

Who do you keep hearing this from? There hasn't been a peep about a new Ork codex anywhere on the net. The current codex is wonderful, I don't see a need for a new one for some time.

Orks are fine, their codex was made with 5th in mind.

Necrons, Tau, SoB, BT, CSM and DA need it much more.

NO!!!!! Bad PraetorDave!!!

The Ork Codex may not be the best one out at the moment, but it is still VERY good. In my opinion it is better then Vanilla Marines. also at my FLGS, it tends to do better then Vanilla Marines as well. There's a 40K tourny every Month or Two, and usually the Top Codicies end up being Blood Angels, Orks, Tyrinids, Necrons, and Vanilla Marines. Although there is also one Ork player, who consistently ends up on the bottom end of the results sheet...

Yep, lots of wishlisting (Guilty...damnit...) I just would like it before 2015, because that would drive me insane. Unless I switch to Necrons. Hmmm....

It will most likely come out in 2013 (since most older codices will be updated this year and in 2012).

Necrons, Tau & SoB are likely to be released this year / early 2012, and after that there's only Eldars and CSM. Vanilla marines might come in-between though, since they never really respect schedule.

Unless of course, GW prefers to skip Orks (like they did in the past) and wait for 7th edition... :(
