I've had my 4th edition Chaos Codex for alot longer than my 5th edition Chaos Codex, but for some reason, my 5th edition is starting to lose pages and my 4th edition, while bent on pages, is still perfectly fine.

Now, I would say that I just treated the one rougher, but the same exact thing happened with my 6th and 7th Warriors of Chaos Books, too.

What do you guys think, are Codice losing quality?

Gathering the Informations.

What's the publishing date on them, Slarg?

If they're the 2007 printings, GW for a bit had swapped printers+materials but it ended up being so atrocious they went back to the old material and printers.

Over the hills and far away, or am right behind you?

Same, my 5ed Ork codex is looking more like a folder with pages hanging out rather than a book.

Gutted to say its a £12 book (If I remember right).

They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself - Mal.

My tau codex and my skaven codex are falling apart, tau perhaps from use, skaven due to failure at print. Used it at most 6 times. Pages already falling out.

I have never had any issues with any of my codeci and I have been playing the better part of 14 years...

Sorry to hear that you are having issues.

I also treat books with a lot of respect be they army books or literature.

800 brethren and 2,000 other personnel were expected to reach Crows World within no more than 12 hours. They never arrived.

For the 2007-2008 codexes, that's kind of a known issue, as Kan said.

For the new Skaven codex, I'd probably call GW and ask what's up. That's a little soon since they just released that book recently. Chances are they'll help you out.

Wait what? There's been a fifth edition chaos codex? Have I been living under a rock?

[checks Games Workshop]

edit: Oh wait, no, there's no such thing as a fifth edition Chaos codex. Neither CSMs nor Daemons have gotten one for fifth edition. Geeze, got me worried I wasn't paying enough attention and I missed something that major...

He means his 3rd edition (called the 3.5 as it was the second 3rd one, with 3 reprintings) and the 4th edition chaos codex.

NOt had a problem with ANY codex, ever. Even the original 7th ed WoC which was notorious for falling apart. But then they spend their time in cases, flat, or on a shelf when not being read. Not left about, which seems to be the major cause of problems

Im not sure people realise just how much more "used" a codex gets compared to a novel or similar.

Are they printed regionally? Is there a US printing, a UK/European and an Asia printing (All guesses).
If so, see whether everyone with issues are in the same region.

My codexes have been fine, but I'm seriously contemplating getting several spiral-bound for ease of look-up. Not only does this get around the possibility of any loose pages, but it also allows the book to lay flat.

My C:WH had tea spilt over it because of a certain kitten *glares at the little kitty, who seems to think I'm just being weird* knocked over a glass, but other than that it's doing pretty good. My Ork and IG codices are doing notably better.

I've had good luck with Codexes through the years. Granted I keep mine in good condition and always put them away, so cats, dogs, children, drink spills etc won't ruin them.

I think it depends on the roll of the dice if the quality of the printer that day is going to hold up.

I do agree it seems like the older dexes seem to hold up much better.

My IG codex is heavily used but none of the pages have fallen out and it is holding together fine, and my rule book is the same. I have barely used my Chaos Daemons book, but it seems fine as well.
