Hi all
I,ve been working on a Salamander list (and models ) for the past few weeks and I was just wondering if the list below sticks to the fluff of the salamanders

HQ Vulkan

E Sternguard Veteran w 8 combi-meltas,2 meltas and drop pods ( I have 3 Squads )

T Tactical Squads 1 melta, 1 multi-melta 1 combi-melta, and drop pods ( I have 2 Squads)

FA 4 Scout Bikes melta bombs and locator beacons ( 3 squads)

that adds up to a total of 2000 pt list

your feed back greatly appreciated!

With that many Sternguard I'd say Pedro wants his fluff back. Landspeeders are Vulkan, TH/SS Terminators up the wahzoo are Vulkan.

Also at 2,000pts take 3 Troops units. Even if you combat squad these guys take a 3rd tactical or Scout squad that you can keep at full strength to defend objectives (LOL! Scouts defending a point).

Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...

Take a Chapter Master with a Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield Combo.

Give his Honor Guard either Combi-Meltas or TH/SS.

Elites: Nothing but TH/SS Termies.

FA: Land Speeders with Heavy Flamer and Multi Melta

Tactical Squad is what you had.

That's Vulkan.

Not this, CMs are overpriced and Honour Guard are really, really bad. Honour Guard can't get any invulnerable Saves and the only guns they can take are Bolters with Grenade Launchers. They cost way too much, even if they have power weapons, they're a 1 wound heavy assault unit with power weapons and no Inv save, Banshees eat these guys, Assault Terminators finish these guys in 1 round. If you could make them Terminators, or at least give them Combat shields, it would be fine, but no, only expensive relic blades.

With this many Sternguard you must recognize the effectiveness of Pedro as opposed to Vulkan
in 6 out of 9 missions

I dont see a single flamer :( this saddens me where the 5 termies with th ss in a redeemer? why arnt there speeders with melta and flamers going nuts.
Definitely found Pedros vets woot.
But really
Mm in tac squads and a melta or a flamer persoanly id go with flamer and mm in rhino times 2
Termies with th ss in redeemer
2 or 3 speeders with mm and or hf .

why even have an army list since 75% of 40k players just use minimax army list they have seen online or in RL. i would extend out that he may have even thought up this list himself

If your gonna add troops or a heavy support, get a tactical squad with a plasma gun and a Plasma cannon to combat infantry, or get a devastator squad with 2 lascannons, a plasma cannon, and a missile launcher to give you some long range capability and kill anything on the table if used properly.

the reason why i don,t have any flamers is i wanted this army to be more of a tank hunter list ( i have way to many people at my gw who run to many tanks!)

Ok Still lr redeemer with mm is awesome kills tanks and what which is inside them and carries th ss termies.
More melta I would say mm and a melta in tac squad in rhino melta dreads in drop pods vulcan and friends in rhino or razor. That would be effective.

dreads with multimelta, meltas, and hvy flamers are always good. drop pods of course. it isnt too hard to get away fromt he basic slamander doctrine:

MELTA, FLAMER, HAMMERS. as many as you can fit. lascannon, plasma, missle launchers, and any other weapon is not needed and a point sink.

salamanders do one thing better than any other SM vanilla chapter, that is blow tanks and transports up with all the twin link goodness that is vulkan.

at 2500 pts, i have 7 drop pods, two dreads, sterngaurd with combi meltas/flamers, tactical squads with melta guns (only) and sgts with combi weapons of some type. a cpt with Thunder hammer and at least two thunder hammers in his command squad. and the vanguard vet squad, that is a high point mess with those hammers.

if someone sugest anything other than melta, flamers, or thunder hammers as an upgrade, they are preaching falsely.
