While milling round eBay looking for some rhinos due to the sound tactical advice from the dakka krew, I found this vinidcator, advertised as a rhino (he probably doesn't know a huge amount about 40k)
I don't really want it, as I already have 2 and I don't really use them, anyone else want it? It's not a huge amount off normal price, and needs to be stripped, but for nearly a tenner cheaper than GW, anyone on a budget may like it.

EDIT: forgot the link didn't I!

Over the hills and far away, or am right behind you?

That's quite good tbh but a you can pick rhinos up for £10 so its £5 for the gun and dozer blade...... am I right in saying that, not missing anything off?

They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself - Mal.

I don't think so, this isn't my auction by the way, because I assume the same thing when people say such things. Yeah it isn't bad, but sadly I don't have the money, the time to strip it and such nor will I probably use it.

It's in the UK, so not sure about postage and packaging tot he US. What annoys me on eBay, is when several days before, loads of people will bid on it, do they think no-one else will see it? It just pushes the price up.

Umm. You know it is an auction site, right? The price is supposed to rise to the demand. Although I suppose in a complete bizarro world, whoever got their first would 'get the deal' and everyone else would just walk away.

Not a lot of folks would auction things then though.

But why put it in days before, and push the price up? Those who wait until the last minute usually get it, which a flaw with eBay bidding.

Because it is an auction. That's how it works.

Not everyone wants to come back 2 days later and bid, so they bid the amount they are willing to spend and if they win it, yay!

People who are willing to spend more, spend more and win. That isn't a flaw of eBay; that's how auctioning works.

It is not like if you show up with 30 seconds left, you win the auction for cheaper, you just have an opportunity to increase your bid beyond what you normally would have entered.

Ebay is actually good about this, because you can enter your maximum bid the first time you view the item and the system will do the work for you.

Oh and 1998 called, they want their outrage over how eBay's auctioning system works back.

Do you not understand my point of view of what I am saying? Bidding works in auction rooms, but on eBay bidding days in advance destroys the point of it, it pushes up the price and the people that bidded on it the days before will very rarely win the item, usually it's someone who comes in in the last few seconds and put another pound on the current price.

winnertakesall - You are correct.
The whole idea of ebay is to "snipe" auctions for a fraction of the price.
Why bid 20 times and push the price up when you can throw a bit on in the last 3 seconds and win it for alot cheaper?

If i wanted to buy a vindicator and it was up to £20 or so, i rather buy a new and unpainted one for £27.

No, I understand what you are saying.

But someone who is responsibly purchasing an auction will:
1) Determine the maximum price including shipping that they would like to pay for the item in question.
2) Bid that amount minus shipping.
3) Walk away.

If you 'snipe' them by bidding $1 more, than no sweat off their back, they didn't lose anything.

Unfortunately, most people don't think about this when they bid and pay more than they should for items.

Not quite. That's the whole idea of people sniping. The idea of ebay is to allow online auctions.

People take that to mean 'free or super cheap stuff!!!!', but that's not what it means.

Most people don't wait until the last second because 1) they don't want to come back later; it is a waste of time for them. 2) They are being honest in the amount they want to pay for the item, which is how the system is supposed to work.

1: So they would instead do what?
Put in a bid at the start and hope it wins?
I doubt that very much.

2: So you are for some reason on ebay looking to buy for a normal and honest price?
I think you are mixing it up with amazon my friend.
I rather use ebay to get cheaper items.
If what your saying is the case, people would order direct from companies rather than waste time on ebay.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

That's what I do. Say it is a vindicator and it retails for 45. I see the bid is 10. I go on and bid 25, which is all I would want to pay on e-bay. If I win, yay! If not, then no loss.

No, but I'm also not falling into the trap of auctioning which is that people pay more than they would otherwise in order to snipe or beat someone else.

It is rare that you are going to find something cheap that no one else has found. And if you did, and you used my method you get it for super cheap. If you use your method, you just get frustrated most of the time (as evidenced by this thread) and occasionally snipe something good.
