My first attempt at converting an old style heavy bolter into the much more flavour-of-the-month autocannons.

Main barrel is 3/32" tubing
Muzzle guard is 2 layers of brass tubing (1/8" and 5/32")
I still need to putty up the old holes in the barrel

Looking good. Smart use of parts... might look in to this in the future.

Pretty much what I'd do.

Sleeved brass rod (looks like brass and aluminium in yours - a bad combo where I live, close to the ocean - just the local air will corrode the aluminium to powder in a few years) a hold bored into the muzzle of the old gun to fit.

Well done.

The older heavy bolter (2nd ed) ones tend to look more like autocannons than heavy bolters these days anyway.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

I would just fill in the side vents on the bolter muzzle.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

That was because my local hobby store was out of brass rods in that guage and I didn't want to go back another day

That is actually pretty effective and looks damn good!

May I suggest, that instead of gluing the barrels onto the end of the gun, you just drill a hole of suitable diameter into the gun barrel (as if you were just drilling out a heavy bolter barrel, but deeper) so you can slide the barrel in and out. That way you have both a heavy bolter AND an autocannon!
