Has there been an ANZAC Imperial Guard regiment. Granted, that's also kind of the Catachan's hat (big tough guys who live somewhere where everything is trying its damnedest to kill you), but I think that might be something fun to play with in the fluff, the idea of all the other regiments being scared of fighting alongside them out of the belief that they're all a bunch of convicts, which was an attitude a lot of British Tommies from WWI took towards them.

Heh heh heh convicts! :-) an ANZAC themed force would be awesome to see if you kept it true to the style and form of our soldiers, would be very striking, and no reason why you couldn't model them with similar fatigues to what was worn in the war (it's a big imperium after all) I believe maxmini or one of the other conversion parts maker does ANZAC heads.

I did quite like this one account from a Vietcong officer about the Australians in 'Nam:

"Worse than the Americans were the Australians. The Americans style was to hit us, then call for planes and artillery. Our response was to break contact and disappear if we could...The Australians were more patient than the Americans, better guerilla fighters, better at ambushes. They liked to stay with us instead of calling in the planes. We were more afraid of their style."

Go for it, just say they come from a planet with some aborigine world as a name or even better just the planet 'Anzac 7' or something, which is a giant red desert/jungle/other Australian terrain.

Heck, it's not like you're going to have to endure the same flak all the WWII german guard players get

Have there been actual rules for such? Not to my knowledge, no.

But....either the 3rd or 4th edition Guard codex had a page full of sketches of Guardsmen. One of them was called the Bushmen, or some such, and looked Aussie to me.

"I went into a hobby-shop to play m'self a game,
The 'ouse Guru 'e up an' sez "The Guard is weak and lame!"
The Chaos gits around the shelves they laughed and snickered in my face,
I outs into the street again an' grabbed my figure-case."
Oh it's "Angels this" an' "Space-wolves that", and "Guardsmen, go away!";
But it's "Thank you for the ordnance" when the Guard begins to play,
O it's "LOOK AT ALL THE ORDNANCE!" when the Guard begins to play.."

Oh man, these are perfect. I'm thinking of getting a set of Catachans and making them look like Aussies fighting during the Burma campaign in WWII.

Well in my younger days, I wrote a fan-fic about an Afrika Korps-based regiment I invented that hailed from a Forgeworld where they manufactured the Volcano Cannon used for the Shadowsword, and used those as field guns and artillery pieces like the Erwin Rommel did with the 88mm FlaK. I am liking the idea of naming the desert world my ANZAC regiment after an aborigine name.
