More interested in the TLS one. Wonder when that is coming out.

Retribution and Chaos Rising were terrible. They made the Expansion Armies (Chaos and now Imperial Guard) so overpowered it isn't funny, and it completely ruined the game.
Especially when you wait for freaking evar! for Chaos to be added into the game, they do, and the Chaos Lord is unkillable by Lictor Alphas, just to start. I don't care about being a beautiful and unique snowflake, but when everyone else is playing the same army as you, it gets really old, really fast.

Everyone plays the new armies because they're new, and they're often complained as overpowered because people don't know how to counter them.

What? Retribution is the best game in the DoW series, and one of the best RTS games ever made. What the FETH are you smoking? Yeah, the game where every mission is identical, recycled and buggy. Half your squad never has written lines (Whats that varius? Nothing? Ok). The gameplay balance is hideously broken (tyrant guard have twice the hitpoints of carnifexes and twelve times that of Leman russes with equal vehicle armor). The missions themselves are horrendously buggy (when you're scripted event in the beginning of the game misses, blows up the bridge, and strands the player on the wrong side of it something is wrong). And when you perform visibly worse on systems without improved graphics (this one's on the bad coding in general), something is wrong. They put no effort into the game. Every aspect of it is copy pasted and lazy. It's just a bad entry. It's dawn of war 2 "Soulstorm 2". But I did enjoy the fact that my tyranid warriors could sight and fire at things on the other side of walls that they couldn't actually see. In space stations. With ceilings. While moving. Maybe thats why the "protect the zoanthrope mission" is fundamentally broken for the nids. They had to counteract the fact that one hive tyrant could walk through every mission on primarch and take no damage.

Except for that one... and that one... and that one... and that one... oh wait. I don't see any identical missions. Recycled between factions maybe as each campaign is the faction's story as they go through trying to stop Kyras, but certainly not identical between missions.
And I've only run into one bug, which I was unable to reproduce, despite finishing every faction's campaign save chaos and loyalist marines. The bugs you mentioned never happened to me through repeated playthroughs. Retribution actually performs BETTER on my computer than Dark Crusade did, with the only exception being the slight memory leak.
Considering Soulstorm was the best of the DoW1 games after its patches (as far as gameplay goes, the original still had the best single player story of the DoW1), I hardly think that calling this one "Soulstorm 2" is an insult. It's better than every other DoW game released to date to me.

Tyranid mission 1 is identical to ork mission 1, etc. You know what I meant. Try not to argue for the sake of being contradictory, it doesn't actually make you "right".
And I've only run into one bug, which I was unable to reproduce, despite finishing every faction's campaign save chaos and loyalist marines. The bugs you mentioned never happened to me through repeated playthroughs.
Considering I mentioned a single bug which was a scripting error which was shared between myself, kanluween, and IGN I'm pretty set in my "bugs". More likely then not you simply didn't notice them, they are consistent. Two thirds of the cutscenes in the game fail to freeze the action, meaning you lose control of your army (often times in the middle of large battles) while it zooms around to show you objectives that exist along the only super linear path you can actually travel. During this time most of your army is likely being killed (in the event of you playing IG) or your army will win the mission for you by itself (in the event of tyranids).
This is consistent, reproducible, and has occurred to every single person I know who has played the game. Other reproducible bugs include having AI controlled chimeras taking up squad cap for a third of a mission and not the rest, units that lose their pathing after several ai cycles causing them to ignore orders, and scripted enemy pathing breaking, resulting in them standing around like idiots or targeting a unit while dead and then proceeding to chase him after he is resurrected (across the entire map). There are also consistent reproducible glitches with wargear awards, such as being consistently and repeatedly given the same unique items.
Retribution actually performs BETTER on my computer than Dark Crusade did, with the only exception being the slight memory leak.
Funny how I'm not comparing it to dark crusade. An entirely different game running on an entirely different engine produced by a (largely) different team of people.
Considering Soulstorm was the best of the DoW1 games after its patches (as far as gameplay goes, the original still had the best single player story of the DoW1), I hardly think that calling this one "Soulstorm 2" is an insult. It's better than every other DoW game released to date to me.
Soulstorm was a reskinning of dark crusade that introduced two badly designed (and very badly textured and animated) armies that were functionally broken in online play (the sisters had an infinite money glitch) and had identical single player play to dark crusade (replace a map of countries with planets, the scripting and design itself is identical). The planes (the games only notable introduction) flew through walls, were unbalanced, and were poorly implemented. It was in every way and is commonly regarded as the worst game in that series. Calling this one soulstorm two is fitting and insulting.

I just like that there is a Tyranid campaign at all.
And I am also eagerly awaiting more TLS. I almost have my Tyrant back to 20. LOL

Given your fanaticism and willingness to overlook things in other similar threads I'm inclined to believe that there is a healthy combination of low standards and unfamiliarity with game design at work here more then I am that you're repeated playthroughs of the games were bug free. Especially considering that half the issues I mentioned were just interface issues (the cutscene camera for instance) rather then programing bugs in the first place.

No. . .I had a bit too much scotch one evening and my Tyrant is now Elite. They are adding some new wargear with acheivements though. I have everyone to 13*, with Space Marine and Tyrant at 20. I made the Space Marine elite ages back to see what it did. Ooops. *except the Imperial Guard, who is not even 10 yet--but he is new so I have an excuse.

Maybe, but after that first game or two on the Table Top, I have always competed with my friends and family when it comes to new armies.
And in the First DoW, I destroyed Tau and Crons with my Imperial Guard ("But Slargy! We want to be a Unified, Imperial Force!" ).

I didn't find any bugs on my campaign playthroughs.
And while the missions themselves are "samey", their flavor is different depending on the race. So they aren't unique campaigns, per se, but they are different, if only a bit.
TLS never was reset, but you can opt to reset your character to get more points or something. I am looking forward to new wargear today, and my tacs costing 450req in multiplayer.
Nids are OP Hive Tyrant + swarms of hormas will just crash through any defensive line you have setup to try and stop it, since Hive Tyrant cannot be knocked down or suppressed lol.

I'm not sure if it does or not, but I wouldn't be surprised it if did not. He's a big guy. But, I guess it can immobilize like all other infantry, so you might be able to do it with the Inq.

Use the plasma gun's grenade to do it.
Hell, I got 350 on my melee Ork just using mines.
So far I have the zzap knife and the black plate, working on the duelist's medal (2500 kills total).
