Hey,

Just thought I'd put up my last flier, just finished. I've added the door gunners, but that's about it. (Actually, this is THE last of my Guard vehicles before I commit fully to GK for a while.)

Please leave a comment what you think of it, good as well as bad.

Thanks.

Berglin, yours is a very nice paint job indeed! You should be proud.

I do have two suggestions.
1.) Paint up the three glass surfaces at the front of the model (the under-slung scanner and the 2 scanners to the pilot’s left) in the same manner that you have painted up the two computer consoles in the crew bay. You have nicely highlighted up from a dark red to yellow and it really looks most impressive. Thus, adopt a little bit of the same scheme to the outside of the model. Doing so would spice up your model just that extra bit without overpowering it. Then toss on the ‘ol gloss varnish on all three pieces of glass and you’re a go.
2.) Since you like washes you also might want to add a dark wash (a very little bit) to the two jet intakes so as to make their features stand out (of course they look good as is so this last step is not that important).

Of course, take my advice with a grain of salt as I have been using an un-finished Vendetta for months!

Interior looks nice, exterior looks very...brown.

Some sort of contrast on the outside of the model I think would really perk it up - the red bits on the nose help, but can't quite carry it.

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

Weathering and detailing is brilliant. What I think is missing is some details on the outside, in particular vehicle name/designation, squadron insignia, campaign markings, etc. That would really bring it to life.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Really well made, but a tad bit to dirty and weathered for my taste.
Anyhow, well done!

Well it lives up to the title, no denying that. If what you were after was a realistic effect, making it look like battle hardened war machine then you have done the basics great. You have missed out on all the charring and scorching that would occur. Try blackening around exhaust vents and engine outlets. You then could look at minor battle damage scuff and scrapes. I think your going to struggle with that though because you have weathered essentially every part of the panelling which means it looks likes it been sand blasted ready for repainting.

I like what you have done but I think you have gone a bit OTT on the weathering powders. If this is a first attmept its really good and this inside of the cockpits and internal details are very very nice.

If your going to do something wrong, do it right!!!!

Thanks all for replying. I'll try and comment on some on the criticism.

Tallarn Commander: The three scanners they are actually already painted like the interior, or almost, they are painted as red lenses although it is a bit difficult to see in the images. This model has very little wash, almost all of the weathering is done with powders and spirits, but I can see your issues with the jet intakes. I might go over them with some wash to increase the contrast.

1-UP and Flinty: I agree with your criticism. I had a hard time deciding what to pick out. The model has a lot of very large flat areas that I tried to pick out with different types of weathering. Perhaps it is too subtle or I might just have to accept the fact that I need to add insignias etc. to make it stand out more.

lukewild1982: I've intentionally left out bullet holes, missile blasts, near misses and the like but I don't understand your suggestions to blacken the outlets. I think that the flash lightning has reduced the effectiveness of the soot around the various exhaust ports. I think the underlying color shows through more in the images than it does under normal lighting conditions. I'll take that as a comment on my photo skills, rather than my sooting skills.

Again, a big thanks to all who's taken the time to comment. I really appreciate it.
