For me, it used Adobe Reader to install MS Malware Remover, Scareware that looks like an MS Anti virus program that says your whole PC is 'infected', and the only way to fix it is to buy their software by giving them your bank details.
Peice of gak. Now I have to spend my day getting rid of it.

There has been a massive automated global attack lately against a huge number of websites using previously unknown exploits. From what I understand, warseer's ad system got taken out by (what I presume to be) it.
People who use Chrome or Firefox will be unaffected thanks to the good level of exploit detection, but those visiting warseer with Internet Explorer might find themselves getting infected with the fake anti-virus crap mentioned above.
Dakka does not use off the shelf technology for the front end, and the backend has a huge number of layers of security, so we've avoided it luckily.

Well so far *touch wood* I haven't seen a virus since I picked up on something experienced PC folks had been doing for yonks, which is don't run as admin when you go online.
I was a little late to that party, only disovered it last year, and although not foolproof, gives some extra bonus protection just becasue certain viruses can't do anything with a user account.
