Would it work? Use coteaz, minimum warrioyts and then give the chimeras to termies/termy armor hqs.

AV 12 transports for them?

Hmm....this could work, but your Warriors should have some functionality to them after they give up their ride. Maybe add in one Jokaero Weaponsmith for long ranged support and tack on a few acolytes for ablative wounds?

What point cost are we talking about?

it indeed works.

untill the inevitable GW FAQ that disallows it.

it makes sense, Ogryns can fit, so should terminators.

Why would it get FAQ'd? The only way to pull off the "trick" is to give up the dedicated transport of 1 unit for another. That means that they won't be able to start the game inside the chimera.
It isn't particularly powerful, just a cheap way to get terminators a ride. I'll take a cheap option over 200+ point transports that also cost a FOC slot.

For the same reason you couldn't put them in Valkyries when IG players could still ally them in, or why people aren't discussing putting Terminators in Rhinos bought as a DT for their Strike Squads.

Yeah, but those 200+p transports that also take a FOS, are loaded with weapons, and make a good supporting gunship. 'Nids, orks and demons don't really like it.

I think that most henchmen lists may also consider having a Librarian as an HQ for shrouding. Being able to put an HQ in a tank is a good idea I think.

On the other hand, I do not think it is the best idea for an entire group of terminators. You can not start in it, you have problems with going all reserves and if the initiate is stolen your ride can die before you get to use it at all.

Chimeras are best for used with shooty troops, and the terminators benefit a lot more from an Assault Transport than the Power Armor Grey knight varieties do.

people arn't talking about stealing Rhinos because the rules forbid terminators from riding in them.

Terminators arn't forbidden from riding in Chimeras though(mostly because GKs are the first army that could actually do this)

That's funny if they didn't catch that, because IA2 and the Vraks books explicitly forbade Grey Knights and non-Inquisitorial units from being in the Chimeras purchased as dedicated transport options for Stormtroopers/Inquisitor Retinues.

And yet, through out 3rd and 4th, the Chimera rules explicitly allowed Terminators to ride in it.

I and many others don't consider IA to be official in the same way that codex + FAQ is. Personally I am not going to be swayed by any precedent in those books. So I'm currently thinking yes it is ok, but no its not good.

nothing ever allowed a Terminator to ride in a chimera.

but because there weren't rules forbidding it, it could be done.

Look under the Ordo Malleus Inquisitor Lord in the original Daemonhunter Codex. It clearly states that an Inq. Lord in Terminator armour is disallowed from using a Rhino and will take up 2 slots in a Chimera or Land Raider Transport, so "nothing ever allowed a Terminator to ride in a Chimera" is plain incorrect.

So an Inquisitor, whose Terminator armor is probably smaller by design, could join his Henchmen in their Chimera in the old book. Path of least benefit says that unless it's allowed in the FAQ, Grey Knight Terminators shouldn't hop in Chimeras.

This is more of a YMDC topic, anyways.

GKTs can hop in Chimeras because they arn't forbidden to do so.

Terminators are only forbidden from riding in Rhinos and Razorbacks.

in the things they can ride it says they take 2 seats.

Meh, we'll see how the FAQ addresses it (if at all). Rhinos and Razorbacks are forbidden but Chimeras can magically transport them?

If nothing else chalk it up to another bit of fluff Ward ruined.

I was thinking of putting power armoured troops in a chimera (get in turn 1) can it be done?

yeah.

they just have to hop in and steal the ride.

the main problem is that would require an equal number of henchmen as GK squads wanting to steal the ride.

that means Coteaz.

it seems a little impractical for what you get.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

If I was playing against someone using chimeras and giving rides to terminators I would allow it under the condition that they take up two slots similar to Ogryns. Grey knight terminators used to be able to be attached to guard armies(in previous rules they had three examples of armies, the 'balanced' had a group of 5 GK terminators as the HQ).

Not worth it though.
