Pray ;0)

They seem to lack massive amounts of anti-armour, so Lith up, perhaps?

Try a Destroyer wing against the dreadknights..

Other than that, same tactics as all marines, i guess?

Same as always. Monolith support for your flavor of Necron army.

What you normally do... The Grey Knights have nothing new that other armies don't...

How do you play against Orks... apply the same principle except there are fewer of them and they are tougher, but without access to a mass amount of S9 and the Deff Rolla.

You could easily go the Skimmer route and avoid HTH and trade shots, or go the wraith-wing approach and fight basically marines as their power weapons are for naught.

I have to admit, I miss the old Infantry battles of 4E compared to this 5E wonderland of APCs/IFVs everywhere. It's like we jumped from WWI to WWII.

'without access to a mass amount of S9 and the Deff Rolla.'

Since when did orks have mass amounts of S 9?

Powerklaws... Powerklaws in every unit (Most of the time, not lootas and grots)

strength 10 daemon hammers in every unit.

Although, that is basically the only thing that will reliable kill a monolith, so keep it out of cc and you will probably do great

The difference is a Nob and a Marine in terms of attacks.

S 9 on the charge, then S 8.

One in a unit is hardly mass numbers, unless you're talking the vastly overcosted All-Nob units

You do realise they cost 25 Pts each, right?

do NOT allow yourself to get into CC.

EVERY model is sporting PWs so you won't be getting your WBB unless you have an Orb handy.

your Monolith is going to also have to avoid CC. those Str10 deamonhammers will eat a mono for breakfast, especially since he will never be hitting on worse then 4s.

keep shooting and avoid CC, and accept that you play Crons and have the odds stacked against you in pretty much every situation.

but it isn't all bad news

Crons are probably the next, or the one after that, in line for the Ward treatment.

once everyone's fluff has gotten the Ward treatment it will all be consistant and no one will be the wiser

besides, it's not like we can actually do something about it. we are all addicted to GW's brand of Plasticrack.

Dash is correct. The same way to play every other Necron matchup. Stay out of hand to hand, hope that your 3 FA slots + Monoliths/Immortals carry the day.

Scarabs are gonna suck though.

Are deamon hammers s10 against everything or just deamons?

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Fixed the Quote for you...

It was more the number of Powerklaws in the army, or the number of units with powerklaws in it...

+1 to what everyone else has says! Shoota the choppa!

Yes: Hammerhand plus daemon(thunder)hammer equals strength 10 every time. All you need to do is pass the psychic test, which necron's aren't exactly going to stop you from doing.

They are str8 base. Then their psychic ability Hammerhand adds +1 strength to them, specifically before modifiers, making their DH str 10.

Well, outside of magic ring monkeys, GKs actually can not shoot down a Monolith. Business as usual though for Necrons. Shoot them up and run from CC.

The Wraithwing might be interesting if you can keep them from getting shot up though.

C'tan might be nice since most GK units can not activate their Force Weapons and get the ability to hurt them in CC(need hammer hand to hurt T8 outside of Hammers).

The silly naming this isn't new, just look up some of the 80s and 90s fluff. The truly awful naming conventions this edition comes from the space wolves book, which was a Phil Kelly creation. Wolf wolf, of the Wolf wolf wolf, armed with wolf claws riding a thunderwolf, with fenrisian wolfs...
