I really like the modest set up and lets just bash each other aspect of this game.
I wonder how or if the introduction of mech units will change this...
Has anyone else outside myself pondered these things concerning a power house game such as this one in my opinion.
Just I cringe at the thought of a dense and redundant rule set being the end of the road of this move. With adding
units that push tactical play style...
Just asking I say if its not broke don't fix it

They're not likely to change anything. They're basically big solos, with rediculously easy to target bases, and abilities that wouldn't look out of place on an 11pt or Character jack. Nothing they do has any real impact on the greater game, other than a couple interesting new ways to spend 9-11 points.
Also, the YMDA forums really aren't the place for this sort of speculation.

I tend to agree that they aren't going to change the game that much. Their point cost consumes better than 1/3-1/5 of the points of the average list, comparable to the Avatar of Menoth. Something that costs that much should be "really good", but not an auto-include. They will definitely change the way you approach a game where your opponent is fielding one, and they should. But Warmachine isn't going to fundamentally change because of them I think.

Honestly the game has gone through a whole slew of changes. Calvary were added, epic warcasters came into play and then the biggest change was the whole face lift for the rules in the form of Mark 2. I'm skeptical, but more than willing to give them a chance.
In short, nothing I've seen has impressed me too much.

Oh man. I was glad my main WM army is Menoth when I saw that. I hope the Trollbloods get something similarly awesome.

Circle's was already posted. It looks pretty cool as concept art. I'm not blown away by it but it's cool. I can see how it would be more impressive as a sculpt.

I gotta admit I'm liking the AFG right now. Polarity Shield with the ability to make rough terrain and KD/Slam models at range make it more a board control piece than anything. Toss in eEiryss with the KD to remove a jacks ability to shake the effect. The biggest reason I like it is to shut down areas of the battlefield. It's a dinner plate that can't be pushed, slammed, thrown, made stationary, knocked down or charged in the front arc. Unless your opponent has TK, the only way it moves is if you kill it and doing that without charging is going to be a challenge for more than a few armies (also you can get it up to ARM 21 against ranged pretty easily).
Another big selling point for me right now is it's ability to handle enlivened Avatars since it can drop the 4" AoE of rough terrain on it and should damage with average dice giving it only a 2.5" enliven move. Alternatively it could just knock the thing down if they don't have the book (or you kill the book).
Not sure if it'll actually work in practice, but it has potential.

I proxied the arcantric force generator last week and was not very impressed. It held on for most of the game and did prove itself very difficult to dislodge, but really didn't do as much as I expect of a 10 point model. Unlucky rolls had it doing nearly nothing for three rounds but the luck turned around when I hit two 9+ attack rolls vs an opposing caster, I don't care to rely that much on luck though.
the bad: the speed and rat were the low points for me. I tried to run it up front as well as I could and pathfinder did help but it just did not keep up with my army even after a first turn run. Rat 7 is generally good but with no way to boost or add to it the afg feels like it falls short, at least on momentum where you want to knock something down to help the rest of your army hit. the range amplifier for jacks in btb is going to be so hard to effectively pull off it will be similar to stormsmith triangulation. I just can't see any situations where an enemy leaves himself exposed to a ranged threat where I can't walk my jack up but can walk over to the afg. I have a hard time seeing this model competing with a hydra+arcanist alternative for the points.
the good: The base size can hide a warcaster amazingly well. unmovable/steady with polarity shield make it pretty darn tough vs. small arms. a heavy jack or weaponmaster unit walking up/charging a target next to it will still wreck it as easy as a light but nothing stands up to that. The rapid fire ammo option is great against infantry with health, lights, or low def warcasters, any target that is not too hard to hit or above arm 18 really. If anything comes out to help a non-warjack model's accuracy this thing will benefit immensely by being able to reliably hit high priority targets.
The gun carriage looks like it might be a bit more active on the battlefield and will probably make it's presence felt more. Hopefully the other engines are more like the carriage and synchronize better with their armies than the afg seems to in retribution.

No one really knows, I think it's sometime during this year...possibly Summer/Fall, but there's no set release date yet. They just keep putting stuff out that'll be in the book so as to not surge everything at once.

I agree with your assessment of the Khador Gun Carriage, but for the arcane force generator, did you try not moving it? Rat 9 hits most things on average dice. Also which caster did you use with it?

I think it comes out in June if I'm not mistaken.

Wrath is in the privateers June release catalog, the exact street date is not given based on the experiences with the Mk2 faction books. It is possible that the shipment of books gets stuck in customs again.

After reading the new rules for them in NQ, I have to say that PP has developed them as a well-balanced addition to the other unit types. I don't know all the rules for each, specifically, but the overall rules make complete sense to me. They are definitely in keeping with the idea of no single unit being a game breaker, but also reflect the greater size.

I have fielded my engine once -I'm digging it-
