Which Chapter is the "shootiest" or has the "most dakka?" Simple question, meriting a simple answer.

In fluff or on the table?

Which army is able to level the most sheer firepower? Well, the Aurora Chapter has the most vehicles, and I can't remember which chapter it is that has the biggest fleet, but as far as the chapter with the most and biggest guns, I can't really say.

Imperial Fists are siege specialists, and field lots of Vindicators in the fluff. Mentors use lots of experimental and high-tech weapons. No chapter is specifically marked out as "extra shooty" from what I can tell.

Don't get me started on that, Thank you Mat Ward and Phil Kelly for making two heavily assault oriented armies also some of the shootiest in the game, that was *totally* necessary . Or the fact that, aside from Imperial Guard, the best armor spam and tank army is BA's...you know, the army known as jump pack assault specialists and hand to hand fighters. No, it's not the Iron Hands, Imperial Fists, or Iron Warriors...the armies known for their preferences for either technology, shootyness, or both, but the army that can field the most heavy armor outside of the Imperial Guard, and that suddenly found untold dozens of dreads to just toss around like candy, is the Jump Pack assault specialist army...

you Mat Ward.

Yup. The main offense to "shooty armies" is that razorbacks are the best shooting unit in the game.

On the table, definitely the Black Templars due to their ability to field 5-man special/heavy weapon teams.

Hardly. Ld 8 is still a reasonable chance of sticking around via failed Ld test and the rules of Righteous Zeal allow you to move 0.0000001" forward, which keeps you exactly where you are. Besides that fact, a Marshal is almost certainly taken in a BT gunline list to boost that to Ld 10.

And that isn't even counting 70 point Typhoons or Dual CML Terminator squads (with Tank Hunters).

But they're moving in your opponent's turn, and not your own turn, so all you do is move them like a tiny bit forward and then in their turn they can still shoot their weapons.

We're watching you... scum.

My vote goes to the Longfang + Razorback. They can also be joined by a CML Wolf Guard Terminator for extra dakka.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Would a dread spam army be particularly shooty? Kit it out with a psycannon or psylincer...isn't that heavy 12 in the codex?

Long fang can have 5 heavy weapons AND split fire? (Bare in mind I don't know if BT have the same ability).

Long Fangs with 5 missile launchers cost 140 points. Which is the price of two Typhoons in the Black Templars army. The Typhoons have one less missile launcher, but have two more heavy bolters, which give duality. AND are much more maneuverable. Not to mention Long Fangs are just as easy to kill as the Typhoons are. And since all of your missiles are in fragile units, once they start dying...your fire support goes with them. Unlike the gunline BT.

You are correct, however, that Long Fangs can split their fire. However, that is mitigated by the fact that you can take 5-man shooty squads in the BT army, whereas the SW/BA/Vanilla cannot. When you're spending all kinds of points on Grey Hunters and Wolf Guard, I'm paying minimal points on maximizing my shooting potential. Which, suffice to say, means I can put far more guns on the board than any other Space Marine chapter. IG can compete, but that's about it.

I don't think it matters who is the most shootiest as along as the enemies is dead who cares how they die?

As others have said, moving in your opponent's turn means nothing. You can still fire heavy weapons on your own turn. Further, Terminators have relentless, which means you can still move that 5-man squad of terminators with TWO cyclone missile launchers and Tank Hunters and still fire.

But that doesn't make them the shootiest. Codex marines with 3 devastator squads, while expensive, lays down a ton of fire. Space wolves are even shootier.

Well they aren't MEQ but with Grey Knight Henchmen you can 144 Storm Bollter shots for 504 points, (Well 604 for Coratez) while I haven't read the other Marine codexs that seems like a lot of fire power, then for the rest of the points you can load up on AT and anti MC stuff.
