I was wondering today, with the "new" oval bases coming to light does it matter which direction the model is mounted?

I have a dreadknight I want to make charging in a run, however I will not have enough room on the base if I mount him facing the long edge like GW has. If I mount him the other direction I will have a longer area to play with the depth of the model, and it will also decrease my my target-ability and make it easier for the beast to maneuver.

So what are y'alls thoughts?

there are no guidelines on how you orient the model on its base, just that it IS based wiuth the base it came with.

It doesn't matter. Since he's not a vehicle doesn't have a front, or gun based line of sight, or any other reason to care about what direction the model is actually facing.

So it won't matter what way he's oriented on the oval, since turning him in any direction doesn't change his game mechanics.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Aye, for MCs like the Trygon or the Dreadknight it doesn't matter.
For the flyers, consensus (and the build instructions) have the base in the length of the vehicle. Also helps its stability somewhat, as the flyers tend to be nose or tail heavy, while the wings are symetric.
