Hi there,
In this Newsletter we have an exciting Inquisitorial rules update for you to download along with some information about future events that Forge World will be attending.
Forge World Grey Knights and Inquisition Rules Updates
The recently released Codex Grey Knights and accompanying range of new plastic kits are now available in Games Workshop Hobby centres the world over, and Forge World writer Alan Bligh has taken a short break from his work on forthcoming Imperial Armour and Warhammer Forge books to update the rules for Forge World’s range of Grey Knights and Inquisition models.
This free download contains fully updated rules for Forge World’s two unique Inquisitors and their retinues: Hector Rex of the Ordo Malleus and Solomon Lok of the Ordo Xenos; as well as our Psycannon Upgrade, allowing Grey Knights players to field Thunderhawks, Razorbacks and Land Raiders with these potent anti-psyker weapons. The Forge World Grey Knights Land Raider Redeemer and Grey Knights MkIV Venerable Dreadnought now have fully updated rules as well.
In addition to these unique kits, Forge World also produce a wide range of resin Rhino and Land Raider accessories, resin Icons and Etched Brass symbols that are perfect for individualising your Grey Knights miniatures and vehicles, some of which can be seen in the colour section of the new Codex.

yeah, i was a bit disappointed with rex's rules. for a guy who fought an ancient bloodthirster of great power and beat him, he sure doesn't look it on paper. at a minimum i was expecting them to add eternal warrior or some way to survive insta-death since even one hit from the thirster will outright kill him.

TyraelVladinhurst wrote:you forgot his invulnerable save will protect him no, i didn't. he had the storm shield before so that didn't change. one wound from the bloodthirster and he's gone. i was hoping they'd make him a bit more survivable in case he ever fought something even remotely similar to his iconic fight in the vraks book. in the end, you can always use him as draigo who does actually live up to that story in his stats (and rex is on the correct 40mm base anyways... everyone i've met who saw the fig assumed he was in terminator armor).

I'm somewhat surprised that the Psycannon for vehicles costs so much. In many cases you can get an assault cannon with psybolt ammo for the same price or cheaper for the same stat line.

Well, the psycannon upgrade for the razorback IS the same cost of psybolt + assault cannon.. so that makes 100% sense given theyre the same weapon. But it makes no sense on the land raider crusader

I dont see your logic there. because some models look rediculous then others are perfectly fine as they are?
Let me ask you this: do you miss the orks from the 80´s with massive horned helmets and no legs? or the chaos warrior sprue with one-piece models? no?
Then whats so amazing about hats that look like they where made from old toilets?

The fact that they don't? And they're iconic for the race. I didn't say they shouldn't be updated, just that getting rid of them would be stupid.

er, the Hellsmith's hat may be tall but it isn't the same mass as the entire rest of the dwarf like the old ones had. it's cool. he also doesn't have a stereotype hooked nose. that's also cool.
look for the pics of the Infernal Guard and war machine crew dude, if you'r hatin the hats you'll like them.

I'm vaguely disappointed that Rex and Lok didn't have something that allowed them to be used in Guard forces, or at the very least recruit more than one retinue.
Both led guard forces in the IA books; Rex even had the entire 88th Vraks regiment added to his retinue during the Vraks campaign (and no doubt kept whatever remained of it afterwards).
Maybe they decided not to do anything like that as it would lead to Lok having the "Backstabbed!" rule. Whenever allying with Red Scorpions, the RS player must remove all their models from the table on turn 4, leaving Lok's player to finish the game on their own.

This may sound fanboyish, but I'm just glad to have some support from Forgeworld for the changing codex period. And maybe a bit of direct feedback to them via email would help change these rules (which are still marked experimental)?
Yeah, the Psycannon needs to have costs in line with the AC/psybolt option at the least. Here's a question though: what else might be done to make it worth taking a psycannon rather than AC/psybolt?

I dont really see the point in stressing over psycannon vs assault cannon + psybolt. I mean it seems like a psycannon is JUST an assault cannon with psy ammo anyhow
So just stick the psycannon bits on whatever you want, and pay the assault cannon + psyammo costs.. its the exact same thing (on vehicles). There is no reason to use the more expensive point cost since theyre the *same* weapon
