i was thinking of using the new gk with the maxmini heads to make a counts as thousand sons army.
they would be modern version of the sons and not the rhubric versions.

i was just wondering if this was too odd?

i thought that the halberds would fit well straight out of the gate and some of the scroll work and letters on the gk would not exactly be out of place however id have to remove the book icons.

id also like to figure out a way to get a dreadknight in the list but i am coming up blank as to what i could label it as.

any thoughts?

I'm planning on doing a pre-heresy 1k Sons army using the Crowe Purifier army list. Personally I think this is the best time to do so, as the GKs fits perfectly with the sons.

In "A thousand sons" books, they employ automotons driven by a sorcerers soul. These could be represented as dreadknights with a little conversion work as well.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

I want to do something like that with the new Warsphinx. Seems quite fitting that an egyptian style statue can also be a focus for psychic energy.

Lazy conversion; they still have Imperial text on them (observe 'Terra' on the far-right).

use the rules by all means, but not the models...

Plus, ALL non-psychic Thousand Sons are now Rubric Marines... so to make it fluffy you would need to model them as such.

I think they are pre-heresy, so not so bad. Look good though

Definitely NOT Pre-heresy. Pre-heresy Sons were red.

yeah it might be... ill have to look at things a bit before deciding.

funnily enough though from what ive read all non sorceror marines that were transformed were under ahrimans control.
there were still different cults that were separate and the sons still recruit and promote marines.

also considering that all of the gk squads are psykers this kind of supports the non rhubric stance as well.

Super lazy. GK are covered in Imperial runes, eagles, Inquisitorial symbols, books, etc. All blatantly GK iconography.

Don't do this.

For pre-heresy thousand sons, it might work as an elite cabal of dudes. You would need to use no GK parts though.... probably only weapon arms. I know this is what I am doing for my Relictors: only weapons arms because they are necessary, no legs/torsos/backpacks/shoulders/heads.

Damn. I thought all the runes were just gibberish. The alternate route would be to use DA robed bodies for the marines, and sparingly use GKs with the GK iconography (but not imperial, as pre-heresy is still imperial time for the 1kS) shaved off as Justicar stand-ins.

the knights just seemed the most fitting of base models since they have the storm bolters and glaives.
i suppose ill need to reconsider a different base model.

Space Marine terminators, bits order pre-heresy shoulder pads from Maxmini or a similar site, bits order grey knights arms and weapons, bits order pre-heresy helmets from Maxmini. Bam, you're golden.

On moon miranda.

hrm, while I can understand the desire to try this, I just don't think GK's make good TSons. The GK's are very heavily CC oriented, while the TSons have always been a ranged firepower army with tons of resiliency.

Yes, both are very psyker heavy (or should be, lol CSM4E) but GK units don't really work the way a Tsons army would.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Cmon, psychic powers on every squad, TSons get their 2 wound terminators back (any army with 2 wounds each has got a lot going for it!), and stormbolters on every model is pretty good for ranged firepower. What else do you want, heavy bolters on every model?
