So how do you deal with a crazy eight year old who's chucking chairs and TV's while trying to break into an office where his teachers and fellow students have barricaded themselves in and who isn't going to stop? Apparently pepper spray. When I first saw the title, I thought, how are you going to justify using pepper spray on an eight year old. Then I read the story. Part of me kind of agrees with the kid. He sort of deserved it. (emphasis on sort of)

Slap the kid and tell him off?

That worked for me when I was a kid

Call his parents, er, primary caregivers?
Call the Principal?
Call Ghostbusters?
Call Police?................Drastic, yes, buts keeps school from lawsuit while still removing disturbance.

The cops were the ones who sprayed him.

Apparently it didn't stick. Spray him again.

Yea, after reading the article, the kid had it coming. He even admitted that he deserved it. At least he has the sense to know what he did was wrong.

And this mother is just trying to get something out of this by going on the talk show circuit.

Also, you gotta love the on screen caption for the screen grab. It says "8-year-old MACED", when nowhere in the article does the word mace come in. It was pepper spray, which is just as irritating, but not as harmful as mace.

On Wednesday, Mandy Elliott said she wished authorities had chosen to talk him down. She also wanted police to get special training in dealing with children. Aidan has since transferred to another school.

You know something's wrong when it's apparently the cop's job to ensure your child doesn't go on a bloodthirsty rampage that would make Khorne proud.

If it takes the police to pacify your kid, then you are doing parenting wrong.

They should have tazered him for fun.

Sounds like the only inappropriate thing that happened here was that they didn't follow it up with pepperspraying the mother as well.

This is often the case, and only too true. When you see an out of control attention-whore child, the parents (mother) are usually the same.

A lot of the comments at the site with the actual article blame the boy's mother. I have to agree.

Obviously, this kid is either f'ed in the head or about 2 hairs away from being f'ed in the head. Moving him to another school isn't going to do jack gak. He's, what 8, 9 now? What happens when he gets into junior high and some girl gives him the "I like you as a friend" comment. Surely he'll take it all in stride and just go home and play Xbox or whatever, right? Wrong. He'll freak out and really hurt someone or himself. Momma is going to find herself in a courtroom cryin' for her baby boy real soon unless she does something soon.
