A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

Hey Dakkites,

Just out of interest, who is planning on attending SALUTE '11 next weekend (Saturday, 16 April), how far are you travelling to get there and what's your planned budget?

http://www.salute.co.uk/mainframe.htm

I'm going with a gaming mate (it's our annual wargaming pilgrimage and has been since the mid '90s) also taking my 6 year old who has his own shopping list !

My budget is around the £75 mark - planning on purchasing some Valllejo Model Air paints, and various thinners & cleaners for my new airbrushes. Also want to get some scenics from Antenociti's Workshop.

Hopefully this will all come within budget...

My son though is planning on purchasing some more of the 'not' Dr Who figures from Heresy - namely the NERDLORD II, EMILY LAKE & ROBOT DRONE (BASIC UNIT). He's also on the lookout for some DALEKS which he saw last year but dind't have the money left to buy them! So I think his budget will be around the £30 mark. He's been saving hard his pocket money for the last few months...

We travel in from North Kent so only a 30 min drive up the A2 to my car park space in Canary Wharf (where I work) and a quick hop on the DLR (if it's running...)

Must though remember to take a camera as twe met the 10th Doctor last year (or a bad lookalike), Darth Vader and plenty of Stormtroopers at various points through the day, but didn't have a camera with us !!

It's about 80-90% certain I'll be attending currently.

Just for a general mooch around, see if anything catches ones eye, especially in the terrain department.

I'll be there, probably for the morning/early afternoon. I'll be coming over from Staines so not too far for me either. As far as a budget goes I'm not sure, if I see anything I like I may buy a little, possibly a few Vallejo paints if I see any as they're hard to come by near me, other than that I'm not sure...

I'm heading up with with my Fiancee in the morning for opening time. Hope to buy a few bits from FW. Budget is same as yours Ruglud, around the £75 mark. And as my lady is along she'll make sure I don't go passed this by much!

I have convinced my Fiancée that salute would be a good thing to do on the first morning of our our honeymoon... Ain't I lucky.

We're going to say hi to some friends of ours who'll be running a LARP stall but i'll be doing a general mooch to see what's happening. We'll be coming down from sheffield and my budget will be about 37p and a stray washer covered in pocket fluff.

Somewhere in south-central England.

I wanted a transparent Tomoko.

I didn't happen to watch the site between about 11 and 1 on the day they released, the model sold out before I could grab one.

I was rather vexed.

I was sore that I missed it too, thankfully Sally from HF kept one aside because I had asked on the FoD and was one of those pushing for it to be made. It would be nice to have a meet up section, and hopefully I won't get pulled away too much...

I'll be there, too. Travelling with friends from Cheltenham to Basingstoke and then getting the train and tube to the ExCel.

Budget is nothing. I'm there on business, to meet retailers and discuss Precinct Omega's range of games and miniatures, and to hawk the services of Precinct Omega Studios to manufacturers and individuals.

S3 Minis will be there too, but not in any official trader capacity (maybe next year!) - but I'll have a small stock of my minis with me

Looking forward to meeting a few of my Twitter followers there too...

Has anyone heard anything that will be included in the goody bag this year?
I've seen the model for this year and it's quite nice, cowboy on horse I think. I also heard you get some sort of KR bag (presumably used as the goody bag), and I think I also read on the Salute site about some Perry Miniatures sprue? Correct me if I'm wrong...

Looking forward to Saturday!

EDIT: The promo model is sculpted by Alan Perry...

Hi Ruglud, I am sorry but we had to decide today not to bring Vallejo with us... When you see how much stock et we have broughy you will see that we might have been stretched for space on the vehicles we are bringing.

Ho hum, never mind. Tha's what I'm mainly going to buying so looks like I'll need to spend my cash elsewhere ! Good luck though, always looked like plenty of money passed through hands by traders at previous SALUTEs, although I guess you need to take a fair whack to just break even at the show. Don't imagine the floor space at Excel is cheap...
