hey dakka! I think I might be the most indecisive person in existence when it comes to painting my army one solid scheme. Maybe, from the bottom of your hearts, you can help me. I'll list a list of likes and dislikes, then we can figure out which Legion is best, or what conforms to the below traits.

Dislikes:
Little Connection with Actual Chaos Gods
Lack of Unity in Legion (not scattered)
Red Corsairs
Not Joining chaos for "political reasons"
Recent renegades
playing grabass with sanity or logic

Likes:
Ancient, heavy ceremonial feel
Deep connection with chaos gods and chaos itself
Dark Mechanicus feel (if possible)
Legion that incites fear into the foe
Good in CC and Shooting
Chaos Dreadnoughts
Terminators
Looks sharp on the table (compare Iron Warriors to Death Guard)
Veterans of Chaos
Deep devotion to one or all chaos gods

I got 10 plague marines and a nasty rhino for them, along with a nurgle vindi. These will stay, I think every army needs some Nurgle. Based on the info above, which legion best suits my personality and characteristics?

Second the Word Bearers. No other Legion fits your criteria more.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Night Lords as a secondary?
Word Bearers does seem to be the best option though.

I thought Night Lords looked down on daemons, chaos, and mutations. Aren't they more like simple renegades than full blown chaos worshippers?

AFAIK they don't look down on mutations and the like but they don't exactly welcome them...
I suppose they are more renegdae than full chaos worship but go figure...

+1 to the Word Bearers thing.

Though you might want to think about Iron Warriors or Black Legion?

I don't like Black Legion all too much, I can't really out my finger on why. They just don't hold the same kickass badassery that the other legions do, and IDK even know why. It's just me. Iron Warriors is a close second for me, gotta say. They are pretty tight all around. My only thing is that I can't really see something like incense and ceremony and all that stuff fitting their theme. Chaos is like a religion, an idealology, and a way of life to me. There's no going part of the way, so you might as well release all sanity and reason and jump in. Just what I think, at least.

The Word Bearers treat chaos like a religion far more than the other legions. They even have their twisted versions of Chaplains. It's almost uncanny how well they fit you

8. Not death guard?
9. All of them
10. Word Bearers
