I didn't even know this game existed, but Steam has it as a special right now. Anybody play it?

Runnin up on ya.

It's actually not terrible. Not awesome but not terrible.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

It's selling for 10 bucks right now, I didn't figure it would be awesome. But it looked like a pleasant way to spend a few hours if you have nothing better to do.

I think I'll give it a go.

They have nearly every team and it plays by the latest rules. I enjoyed playing it for a couple of months but it's been a while since I picked it up...

Some of the camera angles are annoying is the worst thing I can remember.

There are a few bugs, but it's fun. For $10, you won't go wrong.

Considering that you, the player, control the camera, that can be fixed.

They have all teams except the Slann and underworld Pact, IIRC.
The Legendary edition even added weather effects.
The AI is dumb, but good enough for you to learn basic strategies from it.

The best way to play is online games with people you know.
Lots of drops if people think they are losing, cuz it hurts their rating.
Kinda like FPS on xbox live, in that way.

My biggest problem with the game is the power it takes.
Even after all the graphics are stripped back, it works hard.
My laptop video card burned out playing it, and i had a cooler, and a program regulating the internal fans.

Yeah, I forgot about that...there was also the constant jumping to the cheerleaders on the sidelines after a score or something; I can't recall if that was something that could be skipped/turned off.

Agree the AI is pretty bad.

I think they don't have chaos dwarfs too...but I could be wrong on that one.

Anyway, well worth $10 IMO.

Just because something is cheap on Steam doesn't mean it's bad! I got Team Fortress 2 for $2.50 on a sale there some time ago, and both Left4Dead games for $20 total at the most. Steam sales are a thing of beauty, and I feel like they're given PC gaming a lot of life.

I have both editions and I say buy it. Like others have said, expect dumb AI and a wacky random number generator. I swear almost every game the first block I roll is double skulls or every pass requires a reroll.

Agree about the wacky number generator.

It seemingly generate a string of dice rolls in the beginning of the game. Both players draw from this "pool" in the order that the numbers were generated.

Example. (Keep in mind that it was a while ago)

I saved after a touchdown. I received.
Immediately after one of my players blocked and died.

I reloaded and the exact same thing happened.

I reloaded again and the same thing happened.

I reloaded once more, did an inconsequential one-die block and THEN performed that block from before...and lo and behold! This time I made a successful block.

Things like that might have been changed in the Legendary Edition, but while I have bought it, I haven't had the time to sit down and play.

I thought it was ok. They could have done better. I also have Chaos League: Sudden Death. That game was fun because the real time mode didn't suck.

It's annoying as hell. I really want to like the game and I keep giving it another chance.. and another. But the Dice system it uses it so bloody unfair. Even on easy the computer team runs rings around me. And when I used a player that should have no problem roughing up a weedy player the system always seems to roll "1's" and my player goes down.... ANNOYING!!!

I have it on the 360, and the dice rolling mechanic isn't any better in it. I've reloaded several games because of freakish rolling sequences. Like individual goblins blocking my Saurus and killing them. FOUR TIMES IN A ROW.

I find the opposite - the computer player is just lame, I lose maybe one game out of twenty.

My biggest complaint is that there's no separate volume setting for the crowd noise and it's annoyingly loud in the big stadiums.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

A not bad PC game of, as many have said, one of GW's finest ever board games.

Personally, I really enjoyed it. It's a complete port of the board game, with a couple of (very small) bugs. It's got a pretty neat campaign system, and the players will get to higher levels than would ever have been possible in even the most dedicated player run leagues. The graphics are neat, and despite what others have said look pretty respectable IMO even on older systems (I mean, I have a laptop that's almost 4 years old, and can run it), also the models of the characters update as they get experience which I thought was a great touch. Again, despite what others have said, all the annoying cut scenes (and the commentators, who are the characters from the BB rulebook and get annoying after 2 or 3 games) can all be skipped/turned off.

My only complaint in this regard is that BB was never designed to be played in campaigns lasting 30 or 40 games, and if you do, then the game becomes unbalanced in favour of the tougher teams. But, I think it's as good as you could have hoped for in a PC game. In my own opinion it won't ever match the experience of two well painted teams and a couple of beers, played with a mate, but that's not a fair criticism of the game. For $10 I would say it's a steal

Got it myself...a few friends are gonna be starting an online league in the near future (hopefully).

I found the AI sucked, but if you are new to the game (which I was when I first got it) then it's good for learning the basics. Once you learn a few tricks and are past that stage though it does become a bit too easy. If you get online and play against fellow people then the game is much more interesting.

Bought it, played it, enjoyed it, got furious at the bugs, stopped playing.

There were some serious gripes I had but fun overall. I think the ridiculous dice balance themselves out. Every time I have elves dodging around my tackle linesmen I have to remember the last time I pulled off something equally cheeky. I did find that my players were incapable of getting interceptions (understandable as the odds are fairly long) but the computer made every single chance it had (roughly 10). This included players with really low agility (1 and 2) with safe pass skills etc engaged.

Also a couple of bugs really put me off in the long run. For example, Hail Mary seemed like a no-brainer for my passer until I found that you can't turn it off, making it virtually impossible to complete even short passes. I had to install a cheat script to modify the skill off my player!

Finally on more than one occasion I've had the ball scatter about on kick-off only to stall prematurely. I know the ball needs to scatter another square but the computer gets confused, refuses to do anything and I'm forced to quit. Infuriating.

If you like Blood Bowl buy it. Make sure it BB:LE.

It has all the teams, except Chaos Dwarf, Slann, Pact and Underworld, with a mod you can play Slann in Snigle Player.

AI is a joke, the only thing that changes between Easy, Medium and Hard is the amount of risk the AI takes. The only time the AI scored on my was on Easy, doing a play that needed like 8 5+ roll to score. Don't play the computer, go ONLINE.

Since its last patch the games much more stable, but still crashes. Just now maybe 1 in 40/50 games.

The are still some bugs, like when you frenzy not getting the second block if you pick the ball up. They say there going to fix the bugs, but theres only 1 guy still working on the game. The rest are now working on "Fire and Ice", I belive its Game of Thron based but not sure.

The RNG is just as good as any other games, it just with a range of 1-6 it feel like it cheating. Remember you are using the same "dice" as the other guy.

Real-Time SUCK.

You must go to options on main screen, then suboption skill make sure you change all to ask (some you can't like block, but the rest do) or you forced to all ways use every skill you have. To guy with Hail Mary issue you need to do this.

Bad UI, yup just bad, and autopath never trust it.

It a good game in need of patches.

So play online, and put some teams into the Forum Open League. Do a blank league search it should be one of the first 10. Its a private moderatored leagun using the same Match-Making system of the Cyanide Leagues but with out the cheaters. Unlike Cyanide the FOL will kick cheaters. There is no limit to the amount of teams you can join with, except for Cyanides 32 online team limit.

Eidted to add nothing sadder or funner as you Chaos Warrior 3D blocks a Sonlting turn 16 get 3 skulls rerolls 3 skulls and dies then you Apo step in to kill him even deader. If you fail to see the humor in that its not the game for you.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.

Although online you get quite a few, hmm how to say it, not nice people online. The most fun I've had is making a league with a couple of friends who have the game, and then playing with them. Although the experience pales in comparison to the real game, in the absence of that possibility it is good fun.

On your second point, the failed 3-dice block leading to death, followed by failed apothecary roll has always been one of the joys of bloodbowl. As has the failed 'go for it' roll, followed by death

I really can't say I've noticed all that many bugs though, except for the diving tackle skill which doesn't work as it should.

I love the game, and at $9.99 it's a steal.

I'm going to warn you, though. You will feel, at times, that the game itself is playing against you. I just abandoned a game with my Skaven team against Humans. I couldn't believe that, by the 11th turn, more than half my team had been knocked out, and the humans were consistently getting out of my tackle zones and beating my players down that hard. They're skaven, yeah, but I'd expect that from an Orc team. Not Humans.

Real time is really fun...
Unless you don't like playing the Chaos/Orc way.
In other words, beat the living crap out of the enemy team, then score touchdowns till the sun goes down.
I once killed a player, injured 8 of his teamates (badly hurt), and knocked out all but 2. That's right.
10 or so vs. 2
I won 7-1

I think the most amusing thing I've done is caught my kick off to the opposing team.

Granted, my poor skink got dog-piled a couple seconds later, but it was hilarious.
