Im looking to get a figure case to carry my gaurdsmen and tanks around in. Any sugestions or ideas for a case or company?
I was going to get a sabol case, however you can only fit 2 tanks into a 2 1/2" foam tray. (4 if ur SM!!) And being a tank heavy army, this would take up almost if not all the space.

What brands/bags do other IG players use?

I use a normal GW case and a smaller hardware case for tanks.

Not SM, but mechanised SM. I just use a Citadel figure case for my infantry and a toolbox lined with foam for vehicles.

I throw it all into a big box and toss it into my truck.

You can actually fit 3 Leman Russ tanks with side sponsons in the 3 inch, just have the middle one facing the other way.

A lot of the local IG players have battlefoam cases.. hold a SH-load of vehicles.. but also cost a bucket.

If you have a Wal-mart available, I personally recommend the Plano Pistol Case found in their Sporting Goods section. Holds a lot of stuff very well, and costs $10. I don't have a photo of mine, but I can put easily 12 tanks in there with turrets off.

KR systems do custom foam cuts at reasonable prices - so if you have valkyries you can get foam fits for them. theyre also standard size so you can use GW, feldherr, bfoam bags to hold them in.

You can also make your own.
It's quite easy and a lot cheaper.

Cheap, and they ship anywhere for free! I'm using their foam for the GW case - instead of carrying around 108 guys, I'm carrying around 200. That and an Army Transport bag for my tanks and I'm good to go.

I use a KR multicase and love it. A friend uses Maplin cases designed for cameras and such for his IG, as they are a perfect fit for the basically square IG tanks, and cheaper than any wargaming case. (Maplin are a general electronics type store, maybe they're just a UK company though)

I found a standard GW case and a Stanley knife does the job perfectly, I'm carting 3 basilisks, a leman russ, a few sentinels and 12 heavy weapon teams in one half of the larger case with no problems. All it takes is some creative cutting.

The trays are Sabol. there is no foam between the sponsons of one tank and the one next to it, but they do not touch and the tanks are held in place by the rest of the foam.

After using the GW cases for a bit, i wound up dumping them for the BattleFoam cases.

I got the PACK, which is the huge stand-up roller, i have enough for 2000 points worth of infantry for both my IG and Nid armies.

Ok, i know for sure that battle foam will work, and i love their bags, but they are a little pricy for what im looking for.

General Seric, how many lemens can you fit in on their sides? or chimeras sense theres no sponsons to ruin. (by on their sides i mean sponsons are parallel to walls of foam.)

GW boxes with bubble wrap in between each tank works if you want to be cheap but is somewhat cumbersome.

Battlefoam is pricey but its so much more convenient. Also its the best way to carry Valkyrie/Vendettas since they too huge for sabol.

If you mean with the sides against the botom, that would be 4, with a small row left over next to it. This tray would have to be 4 inches high as chimeras are 4 inches wide.

You can fit a Valkyrie in the motor pool case, they make double wide 4 inch trays for it.

As for price, the Sabol Motor pool, which holds 16 inches of foam in 2 piles, is $73.00. The Battle Foam 720 holds 12 inches of foam, and costs $145.00. Sabol cases are a lot cheaper, but I have heard Battlefoam is better quality.

Does the double wide hold 2 vendettas you think? and thank you for seeing how many tanks it holds, i didnt have much time to look at one when my friend was out here. its really helped.

At my local walmart, they have pistol cases for about 10 bucks. If you "rearrange" the foam while still at the store (or buy 2 like I did) you can get some REALLY good storage for REALLY cheap.

The double wide can only hold 1 vendetta (mainly because of the wings), but there will be extra room near the tail to put heavy weapon teams or other things.

At walmart I bought a Stanley 24ich tool box for $15 I lined it with foam and can fit 6 Chimera and 3 Leman Russ in it. You just got to remove the turrets and stack them, since you can only fit about 8 on tanks on the bottom. i just put a layer of foam in between each model and between the 2 layers. Plus it can carry all of your supplies in the compartments and in the tray thats in the tool box.

Ive looked into walmart before, most of my friends have cases from there, and the seem to work well. I'll have to take a look at te stanley.

My friend has a pistol case, and ive seen how it works well, and i agree it does, but thats more of a last resort thing for me. If i can make sabol work, ill do it, but if not Walmart it is.

General- lemens are 3" high? im just re-reading and i thouht they would fit into 2 1/2" ?? what sabol case do you have?

They make bigger, but it was a good price and held what I wanted it to.
A Leman Russ is 3" high, it can fit in a 2 1/2" without a turret, but Chimeras can fit in a 2 1/2" with their turret on. Currently in my case I have 3 Leman Russes (3"), 3 Medusa batteries (4"), 3 Chimeras (2 1/2"), 3 trays of infantry (about 55 models) (1",1", and 1 1/2"), and room to fit another 3" or 2 1/2" tray.

The motor pool is exactally what i was looking at. however i have double the infintry you do, yet half the tanks.

I think ill put a double wide 2inch across the bottum and load it with normal guardsmen.

The Valkyrie can only fit in the special double wide 4" tray, because of its wingspan (it is about 2" over the sides of the normal tray). After some checking, I think you can almost fit 2 Chimeras in the space left over plus 4 weapon teams (stacked) or 2 sentinels in the front.
1 1/2" trays are good enough to hold most infantry, 2" is a bit too deep and 1" is too shallow ( unless they don't have bayonets, then they can fit).
Fitting in all that infantry will be no problem, with what I currently have in it, I could fit 2 more 1 1/2" trays in it ( about 50 more models). In the way I do my trays, I can fit 24 men in each laying down (they do it standing up, which allows you to fit 36).

I'm not a fan of foam, it causes pressure on your models and I prefer the magnet route. You can get magnets from an online retailer (I've used Amazing Magnets) cost is a slight issue, you are looking at spending about $0.10 per magnet and will need 1 per model and probably 4 per vehicle located in the bottom of the wheels. For a case I have utilized metal tool boxes but for an IG army with tanks and valks and the like I would make my own case using large wood rods/columns or 2x4s that are about 6 inches tall and sheet metal, I would then use a tier system and put them in a rubbermaid container, the wood rods would be magnatized at one end and screwed/bolted into one end of the sheet metal, to make the levels removable. Ik this exceeds the amount of foam the case can hold. i would probibly loose the 4" so i can fit the rest in, and this allows for some customization depending on what im doing when i go somewhere.
ill probibly get a pistol case for my vendetta.

The pistol case for the Vendetta is a good idea, as the double wide 4" fills most of the case.
If you use the 3" for the Leman Russes you will not have too remove the turrets to store them.
The double wide 2" is meant to hold models standing up, so you would have to cut your own if you wanted them on their backs.
A 1 1/2" tray may work better for your metal models, as a 1" may not be deep enough for all the models.

and ik theyll be standing, but it will hold more men. Granted 4 1" will hold more than 1 doublewide, almost double.

doublewide= 72 men
4 1" = 24x4= 96
difference of =24men

HOWEVER: it will take an extra 1/4"

not sure. any ideas?
