Hey, all,

Been thinking about how I'm going to paint Grey Knights. Someone kindly pointed me in the direction of Alclad II. However, I'm having trouble deciding on a finish.

Holomatic Spectral Chrome; can you say 'bling bling'? They'd be "Holomatic Spectral Chrome Knights". Cool or what?

To get a decent idea of the others, it's best to view them in context here. I'm considering High-Shine Stainless Steel, or one of the regular metallics on the wing.

Which do you like best?

Martin

I think you're on to something there! That spectral chrome is pretty neat, I'm a GK purist in colors, but I'd be interested in seeing how they turn out. Keep us posted!

Thorian Enclave Inquisitorial Guard - 6000points
Grey Knights - 4000pts
Divine Crusaders - 5000pts
Order of the Argent Shroud - 3500pts
Kabal of the Black Heart - 3000pts
Wife's Deathskulls - 4000pts

I'll be getting my hands on an airbrush in the near future, and hopefully some of the Holomatic Spectral Chrome, so I'll certainly give it a bash.

However, I'm also now leaning towards more traditional methods. http://www.beastsofwar.com/warhammer-40k/3colours-painting-nemesis-dreadknight/

With the alclad paints be sure to use their primers.
The grey primer will give you a more matte finish while the black will give you the real "pop" you're looking for. Alclad actually takes care of most highlights for you're going to do on the metallic areas.

Also be sure that you like the way it looks primed. If you've got a blemish or imperfection that you can see in the primed model you're better off stripping the model and starting over. Alclad paints are VERY thin and will not hide any blemishes or details.

You can see my experimentation with the Steel color here
