In that case neither of us are wolves, you fool! It's Hydrus! It's always been him! He was the one who murdered Mr. Chains! He is the one who sent Mr. Doe to his death!
I vote to lynch Hydrus Joneson and if any of you have any sense, or aren't Wolves, you will vote with me! Down with the false seer!

Lies! I would never have killed Mr Chains, nor Mr Doe! You did not kill me last night simply so you could follow this little ruse of yours, convince them of your innocence and have them string me up!
I have only ever looked to the defence and love of this fine town. If you would kill me now based on so little suspicion - in fact, it cements the fact that you are the wolf.
You should have murdered me first Von Germanburg. Then your ruse may have worked. But they will not believe you, for they know I am innocent. Ignore his lies fellow villagers! He is the wolf we seek - one of them at least. He must hang for his crimes!

You fool. You just hung yourself by your own words. It would have been in my own interest to murder you first had I been a wolf. I could have potentially gotten out of it by arguing that the Wolves would have wanted you dead. But I didn't. Do you know why? Because I am a simple farmer.
Hang this man and vote Catalina into office! Follow me to our salvation!

Yes, follow the wolf in sheep's clothing to your salvation... or his salivating maw!
You left me alive when you found out to make yourself look innocent. What kind of wolf would leave the mystic alive? One in cahoots with them, or one trying to deceive the village.
Follow me, for I know the innocent. If you doubt me, I refer you to Mr Chains and Mr Doe. They were both innocent as I said, and now the knowledge has been proven true. As true as your guilt, Mr Von Germanburg.

What would I accomplish by allowing you to declare me a wolf? If you hadn't lived the night then there would be some uncertainty. Perhaps the Wolves would have killed you so frame me so that they could eliminate two harvesters with one go and eliminate the seer. I could've have also equally argued my case without you constantly jamming your undiluted crap down people's ears. Yet, you still live and you make this false accusation towards me which would eliminate a harvester and ruin the chance for the village to get the King's men down here to kill all of the Wolves. How convenient for the wolves. It's almost as if you are one of them. Or at least in league with them.
I beg of all of you goodly people. LYNCH HYDEOUS! VOTE FOR CATALINA! DOWN WITH THE WOLVES!

Epilogue- The sheriff rubbed the dirt through his fingers, crouching in the middle of what once was the vibrant town of Schweinshagen. Several corpses dangled from the nearby tree. Crows had already pecked away the eyes and tattered their flesh. More rope and axes were strewn about, but whoever owned these instruments of death were now no longer around. Standing again, he walked over to his horse tied to the hanging tree. His retinue of five guards all dressed in the count's colors stayed on their horses, nervously gripping their crossbows and swords. They were badly spooked by the desolate fields they road past and the empty cottages that were abandoned and left undisturbed. As the sheriff mounted, the sergeant rode over. "Sir, the men do not like this. Only less than a fortnight ago we road through here and everything was fine and peaceful. This is just like-" "Don't say that name," snapped the sheriff. "It never existed. And neither does Schweinshagen." "But sir-" "No. We move on. Send word along that we need torches and oil. Salt if we have the resources too for the fields. Reroute the merchants around the town. I'll move on ahead to Yakkenhoff. The count's decree must be carried out." The sergeant hesitated a bit before slapping a fist to his chest in salute. He turned and rode off towards the huddle of soldiers, relaying the given orders. When his subordinate was far enough away, the sheriff reached into his vest and pulled out the missive that had the stamp of the count sealing it closed. He rolled the closed document in his hand and sighed. So far, two villages were lost and the remaining ones in the realm were none the wiser. Sure, the merchants could spread rumors, but the panic had so far been contained. Until they knew what they were dealing with, all the count's men could do was to remove the haunted remains of what was once sleepy hamlets and continue to carry out the demands of the insatiable thirst of their liege. As he replaced the scroll back in its place, he wondered if all this for a few barrels of spirits were worth the curse it brought along....
