Hey guys,
Not sure if this belongs here.
I have always loved the FW Thunderhawk and as a wedding present to myself I am very tempted to get one next month. However the model is getting on a bit now and I heard rumors a while ago of GW possibly doing a plastic kit of them. Anyone got anything to back this up or if FW plan on doing an update (like they did with the Eldar Superheavies) Dont want to fork out the best part of £400 only to find they change it a month later.

And no, there are no substantiated rumours about a plastic Thunderhawk any time soon.

The news and rumors section of the forum is for the discussion of current rumors, info and such. Not really so much of the asking for rumors, but to bring new ones to light. It's ok, many make that mistake

The plastic Thunderhawk has been rumored for quite a while. Nothing seems definitive.

And as always if there were rumors of something that exciting one wouldn't have to ask for them, they'd already be posted here and being discussed like mad. If you have to ask then the answer is pretty reliably automatically "no".

Oh man. That picard double facepalm is great! Btw I heard the thunderhawk is in same release with the 2nd and 11th legion space marines....who are female.
...oh crap, is this called trolling? If it is, I apologize. Daston: Make sure you read the forum posting for rumors and such and do a search through the forums concerning ones that may have already been generated. The plastic thunderhawk rumor has been around for quite sometime and will likely not happen anytime soon...if ever. I would speculate that if Forgeworld all of a sudden saw a huge number of orders for thunderhawks and they were making mad money, then GW would maybe consider doing it. But I have only seen two thunderhawks, both metal.

I think we're all missing the point!
WEDDING PRESENT TO YOURSELF?!
I'd have been neutered if I did this!
Although, that said, on the ride to the airport just after leaving our reception, I said to my wife "That was awesome, but next time I think it should have blah blah blah"
It then dawned on my what I had said.

@Phayse, haha
Rumours have been doing the rounds for years, ever since GW made up those metal ones in fact. I think it's one of those things, you could put off forever waiting for it to happen and it might never.
In any case, the FW mini is beautiful, and will be a real project putting it together and painting it. I say go for it

The only bright spot with any reliability is that Jervis Johnson said in a White Dwarf article earlier this year that the idea of doing a Thunderhawk kit has been considered and they did not rule it out. However, there is no reliable information as to what stages of development if any such a kit might be in or if there is even any current work on such a kit at all. Keep your hopes up, but don't hold your breath waiting for it.

Cheers guys,
Sorry it was in the wrong forum...wont make that mistake again and if I do I will be sure to run into the eye of terror with my pants down!
Think I shall order the FW one, after all it will always be worth more than GW made one and looking at the comparison between the Baneblades probably more detailed.

That seems to be the case with most of them. Nearly every T-hawk kit sold seems to stay in its box for years till the owner eventually gives up on it and sells it. They are great looking models, but time-consuming and labor-intensive to build and paint.

My plan is to do a sort of hanger display for it. Sort of what the Drop ship from Aliens looks like with cargo lifters, boxes of ammo, refuling and maybe a Captain giving an oath of moment with his brothers watching.

Good luck and share some pics when you get started. That model is too expensive to just collect dust in its box.

I have dry-fitted the pieces and it seems to go together a lot better than I expected, and seems easier than some other resin stuff I've assembled in the past. However it needs to be painted prior to assembly IMO, and that is the holdup, I hate painting. I have painted a Rhino for practicing the paint scheme, and am starting a second Rhino. Once I am happy with the paint, I'm going to get started on the Thunderhawk.
