Hi,

Just a quick one to say I run this tonight and it's a very useful prince configuration. The re-rolls from warptime and the extra toughness from MON really combine nicely to make a pretty solid HQ choice.

I am gonna run it again soon.

It balanced in well with my lash prince as second HQ.....

Thanks for listening lol.

Sounds like an idea... usually I make lists with MoK Princes but MoN sounds like its worth a try.

MON adds an extra T to a model with EW. Nothing bad about that.

Glad it worked out.
At the moment its the "standard" Chaos HQ choice, replacing the Lash Prince as the preferred option.

As noted above, this is arguably the most popular configuration in the US right now. I think the Lash Prince still is somewhat more popular internationally, but they're clearly the top two choices.

I recently started using it as well. It does quite alright, but there are some caveats.

-If you are facing armies thick with power fists, meltaguns and lascannons, the extra T will be of no use. Assault Termies will still eat your prince for breakfast in a single turn, though if Warptime goes off he'll likely take one or two down with him.

-Obviously, it's also of no use against snipers and poisoned weapons. The Mark of Tzeentch will serve you better here.

-On the bright side, this guy is great at harassing stuff with a high volume of fire of S4 or lower. People are rightfully wary of leaving a Monstrous Creature flying around the board, and with some smart placing you can force many players to unload on him with storm bolters, boltguns, shootas and other stuff that likely won't scratch him (30 shoota boys firing at him will likely cause a single wound!), just because they know next turn he may be trouncing a vehicle with 6+2d6 pen, turning Walker into scrap and so on.

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.

Against squads with a fist and dual CCW on the regular guys, the T6 saves you more wounds from the S4 attacks than the 4+ from Tzeentch saves you from the fist. Same when you calculate getting shot by a squad with bolters and a couple of meltaguns. I've had this discussion enough times to have run the math for lots of common units.

TH/SS termies kill either one, though obviously if you multi-assault, or soften them up with shooting first, you can make it work.

Snipers and poison are definitely in favor of Tzeentch.

Against low-AP-high-Str shooting, the Nurgle prince can use your advancing vehicles and/or terrain for a 4+ save, which makes him superior against most long-range shooting.

DPs have a 3+ regular armor save right. Tzeentch does nothing for bolters, DE posion, and very little for snipers. (only the rending wounds)

Yup. CSM DPs (not Chaos: Daemons ones) come standard with a 3+/5++.

Tzeentch loses out against most small arms and regular attacks because so much of it is S4, against which he suffers literally twice as many wounds as does Nurgle. Nurgle is also 16% better at shrugging off S5, S6, and S7 hits. Which also means he is equally durable against Plasma, since his increased Toughness is exactly as good as Tzeentch's better I save. Unless the DP has cover from terrain or a vehicle, of course. In which case Nurgle wins out again.

I run 2 princes that way, It's the best thing ever.

My last game i killed 1280 pts of blood angle guard with them.

Can't beat Necrons w/ CSM?

Take 2 squads of Nurgle possesed Swooping hawks and haywire both Monoliths turn 1.

Can't fail. Then charge nightbringer with a possesed Lysander w/ MoN.

Just got to think outside the box bro.

Double MoN winged warptime princes are my defacto load out. Eight T6 wounds to go thru is worth it alone. Especially since my biker lord has been insta-killed too many time.

Yeah....Pretty useful model - the one I ran last night munched his way through "tactical" combat squads fairly well last night.

I am gonna keep using him to see if it becomes a "must have" for me.....

Might even switch out to twin warptime, mon winged princes at some point see how that goes.....

I've been looking at the MoT Daemon Prince in light of having Bolt of Change to shoot at transports while swooping across the battlefield. Does this seem like an effective concept? It's expensive, (the one I wrote up had warptime too, so it came out to 200 points, I think) but the AP1 Missile Launcher looks handy on paper.

Nothing wrong with testing it out in a friendly game. Go try it and report back!

You know, it's good to see someone finding something out on his own, figuring out what works, rather than going online and finding whatever army is the current 'winning' configuration.

Well done.
