So I don't normally use Boss Poles on my Nobs. Here's why. I run mob of 21 boyz with Nob. So they drop below 11 no longer fearless right. So Because there so squishy they sometimes take more wounds in the assault. So they fail the roll for moral and run away. So now, usually about 7, are running away with no hope of regrouping. Basiclly the problem i have is that the Nob gets one re-role for the boss pole. If he fails the unit is lost. Having a re-role is nice, but worth 5pt?

What I want is giving the Nob the ability to Regroup. Not just re-role one failed attempt. Opinions.

Worth 5 points? Definitely. You want that power klaw krushin n' krumpin for as long as possible. Never leave home without one in every unit that can take one.

Personally I haven't really found them that effective, maybe due to my poor dice rolling (seriously, with respect to normal probabilities my averages are way off!).

Usually for me what happens is this:
Orks lose combat, no retreat! takes them down to about 1/4 unit size.
Opponents assault phase
Orks fail leadership test
Bosspole causes a wound, meaning I lose another ork
Orks fail leadership test
Orks run anyway.

However despite my guaranteed failures as a dice-handler I put a bosspole on every troops choice, just in case one day I play a game where things are statistically normal...

You basicly get something a little better than +1 for the cost of punching a boy less than half of the time, who may even attempt an armor save. As even two boyz and a boss still have decent chance of wiping out a unit dedicated to holding objectives, killing a tank or helping another unit in combat, they are nothing to be trown away.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I would never run a squad of boyz without a bosspole. For 5 points a time it has saved my squads more times than I can remember from running off. And a few boyz and a PK Nob can still do real damage to most things.

Yes it is worth it. Remember that once it drops below 50% and below 11 models, if it runs, it never rallies.

A bosspole for 5 points is a great deal. For anyone saying "I've never seen it work", just remember: No-one notices when things go right.

Nope, I have actually never passed a bosspole morale test, ever.

I am renowned among my peers for my incredibly statistic-beating and unlucky rolling...
