Before you tear this list apart, this is just a test! Please don't give me your average Tau list suggestions, please try and add to the focus of this list.

Originally I was going to go for a kan-wall type list, with a wall of kroot with piranhas (w/ D-pods) giving them cover saves... but I decided to take advantage of the outflanking instead... so no piranhas

Crisis Battlesuit Commander (TL-MP/FB/HW-MT)
85 Pts.

Crisis Suit (1) (TL-FB/TA)
53 Pts.

1x Fire Warriors (6)
60 Pts.

5x units of Kroot (20) w/ hounds (12)
1060 Pts.

Heavy Support

3x units of Broadside (TA)
240 Pts.

1498

Suicide suits are there to help the broadsides take out armor. (I usually don't advocate suicide suits btw, please don't criticize them...)

5 Units of 32-man outflanking kroot!!!

A 1000 pt. version of this list would be:

Crisis Battlesuit Commander (TL Flamer/FB)
68 Pts.

1x Fire Warriors (6)
60 Pts.

5x Kroot (10) w/ hounds (12)
710 Pts.

Heavy Support

2x Broadside (TA)
160 Pts.

998 Pts.

Thoughts, any idea how to make this scarier? (If indeed it could be scary)

haha, I'm going to try it out some-time as well. I only have 12 kroot though, so I'm going to have to make quite a few cut-outs or something...

I expect to play this against either eldar or orks, they are my common opponents.

I'll consider shapers... I usually never take them because their initiative will only make a difference a fraction of the time, and you'll only ever take leadership so many times during a game.

With shapers, the list would look like this:

Crisis Battlesuit Commander (TL FB/BK - to take up hardpoint)
68 Pts.

1x Fire Warriors (6)
60 Pts.

5x Kroot (10) w/ hounds (8) + Shaper (Two units have an odd kroot)
709 Pts.

Heavy Support

2x Broadside (TA)
160 Pts.

1000

Krootox, apart from being expensive, take away the ability to outflank/infiltrate

Not to mention, I'd rather go for missile pod crisis suits any day.

There really isn't a range confusion on my commander. I intent for him to be in the face of my opponents tanks. The fusion blaster was the first natural choice. The missile pod is the runner up for anti-tank power.

Ok, the list with the updated commander would look like:

Crisis Battlesuit Commander (TL FB/BK - to take up hardpoint)
68 Pts.

1x Fire Warriors (6)
60 Pts.

5x Kroot (10) w/ hounds (8) + Shaper (Two units have an odd kroot)
709 Pts.

Heavy Support

2x Broadside (TA)
160 Pts.

1000

A list using krootox would look like:

Crisis Battlesuit Commander (TL FB/BK - to take up hardpoint)
68 Pts.

1x Fire Warriors (6)
60 Pts.

3x Kroot (10) Hounds (12)
426

2x Kroot (10) Krootox (2)
280

Heavy Support

2x Broadside (TA)
160 Pts.

994

I will, I just hope my opponent doesn't mind playing against an army of paper cut-outs

(And I really hope he won't take a wraithlord....)
