With the release of the Grey Knights - undoubtedly the elite of the elite within the Imperium - we found ourselves thinking about the veteran warriors that grace our armies, you know the ones - Space Marine Terminators, Empire Greatswords, Uruk-hai Berserkers and the like. Most of us will have at least one unit of these in each of our armies, I mean, they're too cool not to take (the fact that they normally batter the living daylights out of anything they touch also helps). So next week we're celebrating elite units in style, showing off tactics and tips on how to use them, plus plenty of awesomely painted models. That's where you lot come in.

The Competition:

We would like you to send in pictures of your own elite units from any of the three game systems and we want you to tell us about them in no more than 400 words. So what do you win? Do you remember the Tomb Kings video from last week? The background behind Wade and Robin was specially printed for that video and we're giving it away as the prize for the winner. If you don't remember it, here's what it looks like.


As you can probably tell by the picture, it's pretty big. For those of you desperate to know, its 9 feet long by 4 feet deep (that's 276cm by 112 cm if you use the metric system) and printed on high quality printing paper. Just in case you got any ideas, Scott and Mike are not part of the prize, they are merely modelling the mega-poster.

For Warhammer 40,000 it's pretty obvious which units are elite units - they're the ones in the Elite section of your codex (it's so obvious I thought I would point it out just in case). For Warhammer you can send in units from the Special or Rare section of your army book; and for War of the Ring, you can send in any unit from the Legendary or Rare Formations section of the rulebook (of course, you can send these as a unit from The Lord of the Rings instead if you like).

However, we also want to know more about the unit you painted. Tell us about them - how they defended an entire city on their own or lead a planetary invasion, or defeated an evil warlord. It doesn't have to be based on a game you've played either, be creative and write something cool (remember, the more gore, the better).

To recap, here's what you need to do:

1. Compose an email no more than 10MB in size containing at least one high quality picture of your unit. The more pictures you can send the better.
2. Include some background text about your unit up to 400 words long.
3. Put: 'The Conquering Elite Competition' at the start of the email title.
4. Click 'send' before midnight on Sunday 24th April (GMT), sit back and relax.
