ATTN: SPEARHEAD IS A TANK/MC - HEAVY EXPANSION FOR 40K
Spearhead is both the name of the expansion and the name of Apoc-style formations based around mounted warfare. You can download the rules from GWdotcom. This list will be playing enemies with no real limit on armour and MC's.

Hive Tyrant: Hive Commander, Heavy Venom Cannon, Adrenal Glands, Armoured Shell, Paroxysm, Leech Life
2 Tyrant Guard: Lash Whips

Mass attack Spearhead (S7 Krak Grenades, always able to regroup)
20 Hormagaunts: Toxin Sacs
10 Genestealers: Toxin Sacs, Broodlord - Scything Talons, Implant Attack
21 Termagants: Spinefists

Destroyer Spearhead (Free shooting phase before game begins)
Tyrannofex: Rupture Cannon, Shreddershards, Cluster Spines
3 Biovores
2 Carnifexes: Heavy Venom Cannon

2 Zoanthropes: Mycetic Spore, Barbed Strangler

I'd prefer to spend 20pts on a pair of Stranglewebs than Spinefists, but I'm strictly WYSIWYG.

Hormagaunts and Genestealers set to Outflank, the rest pretty much advance in a blob.

Seems rather elite and considering this is the Nid's thats a strange sight.

I'm not a fan of this list. Lacks the meat really. OBJ capturing games you've lost and with only 4 or 3 Synapse I can see you losing fast. (I'm no Nid's player my mate is though and I play them alot)

I think you went all out on the Hive Tyrant. My preference at this point's would be Geanstealers and lots.
Put one with a broodlord outflanking and you've got a nasty payload. Mabye some Ymgarlls.

Nice to see a Tyrannofex would keep that there for Long range anti tank. The canifex's should have TL Brain leech worms and a Spod. I would drop the Biovores and chuck in more gaunts.

But it's your list and your choice.

WHAT!!!!!!!!! NO HIVEGUARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But. . .but, why? I would drop the Biovores, in most games they're really not going to help you out much. I would get some more Hormagants in there too. And, you know, like 9 Hiveguard. . .or something.

Hiveguard are over rated. A terranofex can do the job and then some. I would agree hiveguard are good but I would say 4 tops.

Spamming Hiveguard is a pet hate of mine. You will struggle against Av14.

Anyway with 2 Zoanthropes and a Terranofex I highly doubt he would need more than 2 Hive guard.

Seems you and I are on the opposite sides of the spectrum. I loves me some Hiveguard. Best unit choice in the new book IMO. Tough as nails (especially when a local Tervigon is boosting them with FnP), solid and reliable shooting. You think str8 is too low? Just say that to Long Fang Missile spam. Anything that's AV14 is coming straight for you anyhow, and that's why you have monstrous creatures to smash it. I'm not saying that Tyranofex or Zoans are a bad choice, just that I prefer HG at this point level a bit more.

I would say HG would be better at lower points. At 1500P you see some many AV 14 that a Zoanthrope is the better choice.

wow.... i facepalm at you soooo badly..... hive guard overrated? tyranofex better?!?! fail...... tyranofex has a 5.46% chance to wreck a av14 for ~280 points at BS 3, what a joke of a unit.

I'd like to remind everybody that in Spearhead there's a good chance of finding oneself moving up the length of the table towards long-range firepower. Pre-game shooting by long range Heavies felt more useful than Hive Guard sitting around waiting for stuff to get within range. Plus, we've got 20 Hormagaunts and 10 Genestealers Outflanking with S7 Krak Grenades; that's the medium armour sorted out.

@lindsay40k

Well, two things;

First off, amazing paint job on those nids.

Second, what? S7 krak grenades? I'm confuzzled.

@Grim Smasha - thanks, and the S7 Krak is part of the Spearhead upgrades available. Check the free rules on GW's site.
