I am making a full Tyranid Warrior Army list as my new army, however I would like advice on if there are any better methods for Tyranid Warrior lists. At the moment my plan is to use this:

HQ = 240pts

Parasite of Mortrex = 160pts

Tyranid Prime = 80pts
Scything Talons = free
Devourer= free

Troops = 330pts

5x Tyranid Warriors = 150pts
Scything Talons = free
Devourers = free

6x Tyranid Warriors = 180pts
Scything Talons = free
Devoureres = free

(Heavy) Troops = 230pts

3x Tyranid Warriors = 90pts
Scything Talons = free
Venom Cannon = 15pts
Barbed Strangler = 10pts
Devourer = free

3x Tyranid Warriors = 90pts
Scything Talons = free
Venom Cannon = 15pts
Barbed Strangler = 10pts
Devourer = free

Fast Attack = 420pts

6x Tyranid Shrike = 210pts
Scything Talons = free
Spine Fists = free

6x Tyranid Shirkes = 210pts
Scything Talons = free
Spine Fists = free

Heavy Support = 265pts

Trygon Prime = 240pts
Scything Talons = free
Regenerate = 25 pts

Tell me what you think of this army and if there are changes you can think of without moving it further away from being a Tyranid Warrior only list, they are appriciated.

The big problem with your army is the total absence of any anti-tank. The tyrgon is the only thing I can see with any (decent) chance of popping a vehicle.

I would dump the parasite who is vulnerable without a unit of gargoyles for ablative wounds. Then I would buy another prime to buff another unit of tyranids. With the spare points i would upgrade devourers to deathspitters as much as possible.

I would drop the tyrgon for a tyranofex or two units of hive guard. You are really missing ranged anti-tank (venom cannons don't count).

Your three man tyranid squads are illegal with two heavy weapons each. The heavy weapons can be split into your other tyranid groups.

Basically your list will really struggle against most other lists as it is.

One other consideration is a screening units of gants/hormagaunts/gargoyles. I know they are not warriors but you will improve the survivability of your nids by 50% if you put a unit in front of them for cover.

3 man warrior squads are too small. To keep with the theme, then hive guard do look to be similarly sized and will give you some AT. Also, can't have VC and BS in the same brood.

Shrikes need rending claws imo.

Couple things..

Easy one: You might want to check with the rules of the forum.. posting each upgrade cost is typically a no-no.

Second.. have to agree with the others. What do you do if you run into anything with more than 10 armor? Venom cannons are cool and all but Str 6 and -1 on the damage chart (mostly) is ehhhh

3rd.. Why does your Trygon have Prime on it? You certainly don't need any synapse help.. if it's just for the shots then it's definitely a waste since most people with a mech loaded army will empty every shot into him (which won't take that many with 0 target saturation on the board) that regen will never get a chance to work (almost certainly also a waste of points).

You have exactly 2 units in your list that aren't easily ID'd.. The Prime and the Trygon. Absolutely everything else dies to a Lasgun or Krak Missile. Honestly against any sort of shooty army, I'd be surprised it you got past turn 3.

Thanx guys for the help, this is why I posted my army idea up before making it, as to get some ideas about it before hand.

1. I will strip back the Trygon upgrades because it is likely to be shot down quickly.

2.I guess the Parasite of Mortrex is quite pointless but I put it in for the ripper spawning which can be helpful in situations as well as I had a good idea on how to make it that i wanted to try.

3. I don't want to use gaunts as it defeats the object of a Warrior army, and at Warhammer World last year the Warriors I took were my game winners on all three occasions.

4. I will change the (heavy) warriors to venom cannons and deathspitters, but i will keep them at 3 peice units for price saving and objective catchers.

5. i will add in some carnies with any left over points for the needed anti-tank.
