Subject: Gue'Vesa/Imperial Guardsmen Army?
|
 |
Guard Heavy Weapon Crewman
|
I'm currently working on a small Tau strikeforce complimented by a large Gue'Vesa contingent for my main army, would it be possible for me to field the Gue'Vesa as a seperate with converted figures and weapons working along the lines of 'X counts as Y'? Only that way I can field two different armies or one larger combined one.
Thanks for the help,
Raith

Right because a game in which hobbits with sniper rifles, Geiger's aliens,Romanesque super soliders and WWI-WWII tanks fight Anime ripp-offs and "orcs" with guns this is a stretch...

Run them as a counts as guard army.
Probably a gun line army but depending on how Tau-ish they are you could make them Mech vets.

hmm,
you mean using gue'vesa counts as IG
or
using gue'vesa as FW teams?
or
using as IG with Tau, using both dexes together?
Your original plan would only really work in a apoc game, unless you normally play with fluffy gamers who like this sort of thing

If you used Tau+IG for apoc that would be fine. Otherwise you would have to play them as 2 seperate armies. I would make an IG army with Tau guns and a couple of other features and call them IG.

I have always run a Gue'Vesa unit as a troop choice in my Tau lists.
Here is the Chapter Approved list entry for a squad of Human/Tau
http://www.advancedtautactica.com/resource/aux_guide/guevesa.pdf
I run a 12 man squad with a Gue'Vesala (Sgt) with a pulse rifle. comes out to 84 pts or so....They are decent objective grabbers and with that extra WS are better than Tau on the charge....

Another vote for keeping the combined armies for Apoc only.
For an individual squad I just made mine have FW weapons so can be used as regular FWs.

I built the 12 man squad for conversion practice, but the Tau will absorb and use different races in their army. I felt there was niche for these converted troops.
They are for Friendly games only....i would only use them if my opponent consented to their use.

Fielding armies from 2 different Codices should not be done in standard games for obvious reasons.
