Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find longer, thinner bayonets for Cadian IG. I don't like the short stubby look their current combat machete gives them, and I'd like something a little more threatening looking, especially because I'm running a WWI themed IG force.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,
DaBestestKlan

I run into the same problem with my IG - same theme.
But after messing around with plastic card - works like a charm and is easy to do - I rethought the whole plastic card thingy, because making 100+ bajos aint what I like to spent my freetime on. But I would recommend plastic card if you like to cut and rasp a lot. Else I dont know.

If you have them, the bayonets from space marine tac squads are a bit more substantial and might be what you're looking for

Dark Eldar have a lot of extra blades on their warrior sprues. You can probably get away with adding them onto the existing bayonet hilts.

Those knives are way fatter though. He's looking for thinner, more WW2 style ones.

Buy a box of the current 28mm plastic historical minis, anything from the flintlock period and use the bayonettes from those.

Armies: Space Marines, IG, Tyranids, Eldar, Necrons, Orks, Dark Eldar.

Very pricey though. Hmmmm, maybe you could find the bits for them, and then make a Grey stuff press mould? (hold angles better than Green) Also, if you do make a press mould, use a vice to squeeze out the excess to kill large amounts of flash.

Some care, patience and thin plastikard? If you slice thin slivers of 1mm thick plasticard you would probably end up with decent spike-type beyonets.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

As others have mentioned, plasticard is by far the fastest, cheapest, most mass-produceable way to do edged weapons of any sort, including bayonets.

Making a GS mold of a super tiny blade? The minor detail loss would be catastrophic. The blade itself would be barely distinguishable from the flash/excess GS. The effort would be way above just cutting another bayonet as I see it.

This is true, as far as the work involved is concerned. However, I still recommend this method just for the uniformity of the gs press-mold. You can cut them and, if you only make a basic knife shape w/ a point, then cutting them individually would be fine. If you wanted to cut an edge on the thing so that it could be used as a stabbing weapon as well as a slashing weapon (like bayonets are made), then making one master and molding the rest is the way to go. Especially if you're gonna make a whole army's worth.

I was thinking about making 5, attaching them to each different lasgun that comes with Cadians, and molding the entire arm with it.

Also, I'm thinking of extending the lasgun, just a hair to make it look more like a rifle. So mass molding may be the way to go.

Thanks all, this was very helpful.
