OK,

If you roll the double 6 Raargh on the SAG, it says "any model hit by the gun this turn is removed from play."

Now, disregarding vehicles (which take auto pen hit), lets say you hit a squad of vile space marines with an IC attached. These space marines are in a straight line with an IC in the middle. If you score a direct hit on the IC and say 3 of the 10 marines in the line, does your opponent just take any 4 marines off the board or does he literally take the models underneath the template off (i.e. the IC)?

What I am getting at is could you:
a. conceivably target an IC attached to a squad?
b. potentially disrupt a strung out squad forcing them to move into coherency their next turn

Lastly, are there any saves (invul, cover, etc.) that you would get against this hit? Technically, you are not taking wounds as the wording says model is removed from play. And, since the 1,1 roll on this kills the Mek and removes all models d6" from play, I am assuming this would be the same outcome (ie save or no save).

Thanks in advance.

I don't happen to have the Ork Codex in front of me, but my question would be does the double 6 have language like "Draw a straight line, anything under it is removed", or is it a template or blast weapon with 'every model under it is removed", or do you just roll to hit as usual? If the latter, then I would think the opponent can allocate, if either of the former options, I would say yeah, you can kill an IC and/or specific models in the squad. Nasty, because it sounds like it would ignore Eternal Warrior as well.

Yes, it is a large template blast weapon.

Before you roll scatter, you roll for strength with 2D6. If you gets doubles or an 11, you consult the chart.

So, if you roll double 6s, you get the above reading. I am assuming, you then roll scatter as normal, potentially dropping it on your own troops as well.

Good times for Orky Nastiness.

The double six doesn't do wounds, so it bypasses saves and wound allocation. Anything under the template is removed from play. And yes, this isn't Instant Death, so Eternal Warrior doesn't help.

The specific rule states all "models" under the template are removed from play. It's those models that go. This bypasses wound allocation just like many other things in various codexes that allow you to single out models.

If the template is over 4 terminators and a chaplin for example, 4 terminators and the chapin are gone, leaving the rest of the squad untouched.

Also! the ammo runt allows you to reroll the scatter dice for the SAG, take it! That single re-roll has saved me on many occasions.

juraigamer has got it spot on for how models are removed from play by the SAG wether it be the lowliest of Gretchin or a mighty Greater Daemon.

Yeah I believe the ork Faq talks about this, no saves of any kind are allowed.

Just pointing out BTW, vehicles are also removed. They just take a pen first.

Yup, RAW this is correct, though most people don't play it that way.

You can do both, just not something you can count on

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

So what's the point of the autopen? Unless the troops inside a transport don't get removed, it's kind of pointless. Or is it just more sloppy writing?

Sloppy writing. RAI is very likely vehicles getting a penetrating hit instead of being removed.

Exactly. Don't fall into the WAAC player mindset.

where i play we do if duoble 6's are rolled the transport is removed and all units in the transport are also removed... but it has onylhapened once there that i'm aware of, i'm an ork player who loves fluff and even i have yet to wield a SAG (don't have the model yet.. but when i do i probably will rotate it in sometimes)

you're looking at a 1/36 chance of happeniing and then you're dependent on a scatter so 1/36 then 1/2 to hit of hope for low number on the dice with the scatter
