Could any veteran Daemons player (or any player for that matter) point me in the direction of some good daemons tactica? I've already mined the articles on dakka, I am looking for tactics, not really opinions on the viability of the various options (as most 'tactica' discuss). Thanks kindly,

Dude good luck. I posted the same request, and there's just SFA online about them. I'd recommend reading batreps, they're a good place to see what works and what doesn't.

Thx Jihallah,

I was worried of that. I have been reading every one I can find, but somethings just don't click unless you get someone to say it outside a battlereport context.

Like the need to have tzeench daemons/heralds to deal with mech armies. I have seen many battlereports without them, and they almost always do well, but I just can't picture that always working when you just have a unit or two that can open the cans. I'll keep scouring the internet.

Don't forget the ol' Tzeentch prince with bolt, he can throw down with MeQ

I haven't played with my daemons yet (I will today though ) but What I'm finding hard is to balance the HQ and especially the HS section vs the rest of the army. I mean a base DP is awesome, not due to what you really get (MC with 5++... woo!), but by the fact they can be turned into monsters. But how many points to invest? Wings are worth 4 bloodletters, and with 3 DP's with wings I would have instead 3 DP's and a unit of 12 bloodletters? choices, choices...

I placed a list in the armies section. I wanted to build a 'reach out and touch you' list.

So keep that in mind, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

I posted what I can think of. FYI though I've not had breakfast/lunch, its midday and I've been working out most of the morning, so I'm pretty out of it The one thing I missed was flamers. Flamers are good- 4+ no armour/cover save template weapons are good. I'm going to give them a whirl today against da boyz, I'm hoping to snap up either a big mob of boyz or his lootaz early with them (because with our big gribbly MC's and our troops having peasant like armor saves, you know lootaz would have a field day.)

Aye read it, was a great help. Simple stuff. Such as suggestions for placement, warning's about what not to do, ie don't place a greater unclean one til second wave since by then many units are caught in combat and can't kite him. OR place him early and let him act as a magnet for shots to save your first wave. Which units are synergistic? Which units induce charges from the opponent, and can be used to your advantage. ie are crusher's beefy enough on the charge that if placed aggressively do players charge so they don't receive the charge or do they just ignore them and kite them.

I am looking for people opinions on how they use their daemon army so I can get a better grasp and make sure I'm not losing because I have no idea what I'm doing.

Listen I have been playing since the came out I played a game last night, here is a standard list I normally play:

1850
Fateweaver
Bloodthister BoBG, UM

11 Pink Horrors bolt, changling

15 bloodletters
15 bloodletters w/banner

6 bloodcushers w/insterment, fury
6 bloodcushers w/insterment, fury, banner

Tactics are good group is Fateweaver, 1 bloodcrusher with banner, 1 bloodletters with banner, pink horrors

Keep everything as close as you can to the fateweaver at least 1 model from each unit within 6" for the re-roll. Remeber you can run your units first turn to get them closer to fateweaver!
Most army will try to kill fateweaver and ignore your troops and crushers for a few turns putting them in place to assault.
Drop other troops around fateweaver also if you can on the banners.
I know it sounds dumb but throw warp fire at termies if they are on the board if not just troops you will be surprised what you kill or at the least annoy your opponent.
Remember that bolt can wreak even land raiders so even if you don’t think you can try it if you have no other targets.
If you are fighting a land raider heavy list just assault it with the Blood thirstier it will make short work of it.
Also warpfire land speeders if they are annoying you, you can take them down.

If I think of more I will let you know ok!

What kind of tactics do you want to know about?

It's largely an assault-based army that deep strikes. Try to land close, but not too close that you mishap, and charge stuff when you can.

Shooty units should be taken with a mind to lessen fire coming back at you on the first turn.

Don't play against armies running Warp Quake.

Understand how you split your army. Equal splits are more consistent, but big/little splits may be the only chance you have to win, depending on what you're facing. Knowing how to make that call is pretty crucial.
