Hey guys. I do a lot of conversion work on my stuff, and this thread has never let me down before, so lets see if I can get some more advice.

At the moment I"m working on buffing out my old Daemonhunters force with all the shiny new Grey Knight stuff. I'm working on getting a purifier squad up and running, and I want to give them a robed monkish look. My first idea was to go to the Dark Angels upgrade sprue parts....but I'm not sure how much trouble it will be.

From what I've seen the Dark Angels bodies are a combined leg-and-rear torso style affair. Does anyone know if the torso fronts in the Grey Knights kits will attach cleanly, or will I be doing some cutting and hacking?

Any other ideas for easy robes and tabards would be much appreciated. I'm rubbish with greenstuff, but I suppose it's an option.

Thanks!

The plastic SM stuff is designed to be more or less modular to enable conversions (so sm/csm and GK should all be compatible).

I made several "justicars" for my GK prior to this new release of plastic GKs using SM, DA and BT sprue bits.

In addition to the DA stuff, the BT upgrades are also useful (crusader helms and tabards).

The GK body fronts are the same as SM except a extra thing on top that may get in the way.

Don't be fooled!!!

I've been mixing their torso parts up with the old armour variants to make a pre-heresy Thousand Sons army and I can tell you they are not the same as some other torso parts!

To start there is an issue with the 'pegs' attached to the front that slot to the rear; they do not align with the standard SM rear torso

Secondly the cut and mold lines of the arms and the intersection of the torso's; they do not align and can cause gaps in the neck/waist recesses, along with rib/shoulder joins not being the same size on both joining pieces (I have yet to find a rear part that matches flush with GK fronts)

Plenty of Green Stuff and filing required

STANDARD SM torsos have these problems too, depending on which batch you have.

Original 3rd ed one.
BT ones.
SW ones,
NEW DA ones
NEW SM ones
NEW SM command squad
NEW BA ones

I've had to cut off locator lugs on more than one set to get them to fit together with other sets. It is part and parcel of the conversion aspect. Bits need to be cut/filed/drilled/pinned and filled to work.

The Dark Angel robed torsoes/legs have some DA icons to cover up too. But shouldn't be too difficult a conversion.

Gathering the Informations.

The legs for DA robes don't have icons to cover up.

And there's a 'blank' robed torso that you can get.
