So, I've just had my mid-semester holiday.

I'd originally had ~ 2 tac squads fully fieldable with their transports, LR and a 5-er of terminators, and a 5-er of sternguards with transport. not to mention some assault marines, a vindicator and a scout squad.

Y'know, a decent 1,750 point list.

Now, I'm looking at my progress over... 9 days, and I'm realising I've done alot more then I set out to.

Aside from a tonne of schoolwork and actual gaming/socialising, I've managed to get under my belt...

10-man tac squad with Heavy and specialist etc.
5 more terminators
2 [current project] Snipers
Finished painting all vehicles [4]
And, I cleaned up my family garage [I'm 15] and bought a table tennis table, which is conveniently 4' * 8', so perfect for gaming.

Finally, I managed to turn a box of command squad into 4 plasma gun vets a apothecary and a captain.

I managed to make all guns from conversions, and am rather proud of some of the work I've done. [to be posted.]

What've your accomplishments been, this holiday [or, over the past 9 days, I suppose.]

Too busy with the new Mortal Kombat to paint

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I dug up some old junk I had lying around here, and built a Catachan mortar team, a Manticore, and built a cool wrecked landspeeder piece of terrain using a CD as a base, a busted old landspeeder, and some rocks from my driveway. Nothing too much since I've been painting a lot int he weeks before this.

I decided on a set color scheme for regular Cadians (pretty close to the official one) and painted up 53 guardsmen in that scheme in approximately 9 days. Now I'm doing the fine details, decals, and basing on them.

The last 9 days?

Painted up three models.
I take the long view, myself. Sometimes quicker isn't better.

The last 20-something years?

12,000 pts of marines.
12,000 pts of eldar.
4500 pts of DH
3500 pts of guard.

Models 5 other game systems with armies no longer played.

I didn't think you were.

Nor was my own post intended as a "grandstanding, 'hey look at what I've done.' post. It was my clumsy way of making a point about it not necessarily being all about who does stuff faster. Hare and tortoise - we know how that turned out, right?

It's just that I see younger players going hammer and tongs at the game, playing it for days at a time, and then burning out a year later.

The candle that burns twice as fast burns half as long, and all that.

I'm happy that you get stuff done fast. Other people (often older) have other priorities that means gaming stuff takes a back seat.

Moderation is important, but so are goals and objectives.

@chrome, I had my school holidays, given you live in Australia, you'd appreciate it with the recent long weekend [I'd assume you went to school here.]

Now, while I never meant it in the way that I do work to fast [I've completed maybe 1000 points this year, including this.] Because, really, I don't.

And I'd hate gaming more then once or twice a day. its interesting, but too many games would ruin the special thing about having the odd game/gamesday. I think it'd be stupid.

But, alas, good work over your years. ;D

I got my gaming stuff moved to the new house and got shocked at how much a Spyrer Matriarch went for on eBay. I haven't painted mine yet, so now I'm debating just pitching it up there and seeing how it does.

Of course, first, I need to get my furniture moved.

Damn priorities.

Yeah, the hare was shot repeatedly by the tortoise's shell-mounted chain gun. (see avatar for details)

I'm of the same philosophy and make sure that clients of my comission painting and converting service understand that it may take me a little longer than other folks that offer the same service because it's not my day job to paint. Well, actually, that's not quite true - I paint at my day job.

I've painted about half a dozen Sternguard, a Landraider Crusader, a Landspeeder Storm, 2 epic chaos titans, an epic seeker of Slaanesh, and 4 epic rhinos. I'm working on a counts-as Lysander conversion at the moment, as well as 3 epic chaos Predators, an epic chaos Landraider, and 3 epic hellknights. Then there's the 20ish scouts and 30ish sternguard that have some paint on them (3 color standard at worst, but I want my Fists army to be painted to a high standard before fielding them) but are far from finished; 7 Vanguard Vets, 3 Rhinos, a dakka Pred, a Predator Annihilator, and a pair of Vindicators waiting for primer.

Back to work!

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
