Hey all,

After being in the world of IG for the last year, I want a change of pace. My IG is a mech force, a variation of the infamous "Leafblower" build. As such, I want to do a radically different army. I've always had my eye on GK, but the lack of a modern 'dex put me off. Now that they have a new one, I'd like to try and make a all-foot list. In addition, I would like not to use the Psyrifleman dreads, I feel like it's too "cookie-cutter", like my Vendettas. In addition, I would also not like to use a Dreadknight, because it's just....ugh. I don't like it. Without further ado, here's what I'm thinking.

HQ
Grey Knight Grand Master - 210 Points
-Nemesis Force Halberd (Master-Crafted)
-Psychostroke Grenades
-Rad Grenades
OR
Librarian - 200 points
-Nemesis Warding Stave
-The Shrouding, Quicksilver, Warp Rift

Troops
Grey Knight Terminator Squad - 245 points
-Psycannon
-Nemesis Warding Stave
-Nemesis Force Halberd (2)
-Nemesis Daemon Hammer

1395/1385 points so far - what do you think? What could I add?

Thanks. Redid the costs, I've still got a little over 100 points to spend, what can I do? Is this list any good? Which HQ should I choose?

not a huge fan of the warding staves, espcially over another halbred. I6 is a huge deal to high points low model count squads, whereas that extra save probably wont save you too often. (or i might be talking out of my ass)

The summoning on a librarian I feel is a must, especially since your entire army deepstrikes

Halbreds on your Strike squads would be good as well. probably a hammer too . . . never know when those pesky walkers will show up.

all in all, a strong list if you can stay alive vs ranged low ap weapons

Unfortunately, in a balanced GK list, you need psyfleman dreads, whether you like them or not. Without them, your AT is only 24". Against assault armies, if you get into shooting range, other than the interceptors, you really can't move fast enough out of their assault ranges. You're really gimped against fast orks, dark eldar and mechdar. And against the shootier armies like Tau, IG and MSU lists, they can just stay away and keep firing and there really isn't much you can do about it.

Dreads also give you psychic protection (on top of the librarian's hood) as well as counter-attack defense to lock up enemy assault units. Now it's perfectly fine to play without them, but you won't truly have an all-comer's list without their shooting/synergy.

I prefer the sword for my GM. He's already attacking at I5, well before the majority of enemies. The sword, when combined with his iron halo, gives him 2+/3++ in assault.

I prefer swords over halberds for the durability of 4++ invuln in combat. Against hidden powerfists, they are much more useful. At the very least, I'd recommend 1 sword and 1 halberd for wound allocation shenanigans.

Grey Knight Strike Squad - 110 points
-Psycannon

Instead of getting 2 separate squads, just get 1 10-man squad with 2x psycannons and psybolt ammo. You can combat squad squad them if you want or just keep them together in annihilation games, though now you have S5 stormbolters as well.

Fast Attack
Interceptor Squad - 150 points

Elites
Vindicare Assassin - 145 points

Good.

Heavy Support

Instead of the over-costed purgations, consider getting 5x purifiers with 2x psycannons and halberds. It may be less shots, but it's also 40pts cheaper, better in assault, and losing 1 model doesn't hurt as much. As a matter of fact, with your points left-over, you may be able to get 2 such squads if you drop the purgations.

That's 1510/1505 Points. Ideas? Which HQ would be better? If I do add the Psybolt Dreads, should I just swap out the Purifiers for them? Is it really impossible to do a good TAC list without them?

Basically if you don't take the Dreads you will be needing a LOT more psycannons. With such short AT your going to be needing a lot more of it so you can afford to take losses... So that means more purifiers and purgations squads.

As for HQ choice, Librarian keeps your squads alive longer footslogging, GM gives a smaller squad like a strike squads a combat badass so it ends up as scary as terminators. Personal preference I think... Librarian might be a bit mroe useful though since you don't have vehicles for cover.

A Psyrifleman dread's cheaper than the purifier squads - is swapping them out a good idea?

Honestly, if it were me, I would drop 1 of the terminator squads and 1 purifier squad to add 2 dreads. Then with the leftover points, get another 5-man strike squad w/psycannon. Purifiers are basically your main anti-horde unit. Other than that, you don't have much besides stormbolters.
