Hi

If a Slaan with the discipline that makes him immune to non magic damage gets hit by a cannonball and cant be hurt, do you work out the amount of models hit as 4 extra due to his base size?

Cheers

No. They hit one model, thats it. Whether you can hurt the model or not is entirely irrelevant.

As stated above, only the a single row of models in a straight line, whether it goes through the Slann or not dosen't matter, depending on the cannon ball's distance and your depth, the shot should still hit 3-4 models in the row though.

Correct me if I am wrong (I don't have my BRB handy) but does the controlling player of the cannon shot choose which 'line' to hit in the unit?

If they choose a line that goes through the Slann, then they will only hit the front model. The Slann must be in the 2nd row of Temple Guard, and the cannonball would stop at him as it didn't kill him. In a unit of Saurus, the cannonball would hit the Slann in the front row (if the player was dumb enough to shoot at the Slann) and then stop right there, hitting no other models.

Pretty sure if you are facing a Slann with that discipline, you want to aim your cannonballs away from him, unless they are nasty dwarf cannons.

That would be correct.

Wondering on the exact wording of the cannon though; in reality, it's obvious the cannonball wouldn't stop because it failed to disperse a ghost-toad.

the reason the cannonball doesn't stop has nothing to do with ethereal or not, and everything to do with the fact that the only things that can stop cannonballs have "monstrous" on their name. The BRB section on cannonballs says clearly that if it hits a monstrous something (infantry, cavalry, beast, mount, or just a monster) and doesn't kill it, it stops. Also a wall. But a slann is infantry and therefore can't stop cannonballs even if he didn't die.

Ah. Well, it's a bit roundabout, but it gets there. Good.

I'll be damned, I never noticed that the cannon isn't stopped by regular infantry/cav that it hits but doesn't kill, only monstrous/monsters.

You can't see, but that "The More Your Know" star just went by my head.

Thanks for the clarification Malleus... didn't have my BRB handy to check.

I'd still aim my cannons away from a Slann with that discipline though.

I don't you have an option to not take a look out roll.
So the immune slaan gets pushed out of the path by a brave temple guard, taking the hit for the slaan.
