I'm writing up my list to expand my IoB skaven into a full force.

At the moment, I have a 40-strong Stormvermin horde and a 20-strong plague monk unit.

I am taken with the idea of instead just having a 60-strong Stormvermin horde.

Any thoughts?

I say keep the 40, but stick a warlord on a litter in there.

Stormvermin are widely considered to be not worth their points.

for 2.5pts/model, you get:

+1 WS
+1 S
+1 I
loss of Parry save (16% more casualties).

or, for 5pts/model, you get:

+2 WS
+1 S
+1 I
not auto-exploding.

In the grind-contest, Slaves are the winner, assuming there's a general and maybe a BSB nearby.
The issue seems to be that the Skaven have a good number of unit choices that are great at killin' stuff, so you can afford to save tons a' points and specialize your big units into tar pits.

That said, Death Frenzy on Stormvermin is pretty scary. And if you want a Stormbanner, you can sink it into these guys.

So, 60? I wouldn't. 40? Sounds good, if the rest of the list wants some protection from shooting.

I've had success with 41 Stormvermin and Stormbanner with a Warlord on a War-litter with the Fellblade. Death Frenzy for some seriously absurd carnage. To a super-character, and to the unit.
