Not that I would ever do this, BUT... I thought it was funny. (My friend actually pointed it out, but I wanted to let others know lol )

What happens if Grotsnik joined a unit of tankbustas ? They now have glory hogs and rage.

EXAMPLE: There is an infantry unit with 6 inches, but a vehicle is in LOS like 18 inches away. What does the unit do ? Grotsnik says must assault the closest but glory hogs says must shoot and or assault a vehicle in LOS regardless on range.

Do they just stand there to angry to know what to do ?

Like I said I would never have the two together, but that thought was funny.

You are forced to shoot the vehicle and can not assault the nearest enemy because it isn't the target that you shot at.

Congrats, you broke the game.

The Tankbustas must choose to shoot at a vehicle, not the closest one.

If Grotsnik joins them, they move towards the closest enemy unit, must attempt to shoot a vehicle, then, in assault, they can only charge if the vehicle they shot at is also the enemy unit that was closest at the start of their movement phase. If it is not, then they stand around doing nothing.

No, not quite. So long as that vehicle is within charging distance, they can charge it. Rage doesn't force you to charge, nor does it force you to charge a specific unit. Only normal movements, run/fleet movements, and consolidation movements must move the unit with Rage closer to the nearest enemy unit.

Of course, if the vehicle is not within charging range, then yeah, you've got a unit of pissed off Tank Busta's sitting around with their thumbs up their asses.

FYI, Grotsnik doesn't have rage...

He has his own special rule.

His rule does force him to charge, and charge the closest unit and he must move in his movement and assault phases. Also he does not need LOS like rage as it is not closest VISIBLE unit. He has omniscience

Now the question is can he do actions that would slow down or prevent assault? IE: shooting a target far away? Maybe? Maybe not... This rule is one of the rules where it is so unclear GW has given us a 'spirit' of the rules...

See this in the FAQ:
Q. Can Grotsnik board a vehicle if doing so will
get him closer to the nearest enemy than if he
moved normally?
A. In the spirit of the rule, if embarking in a
vehicle will not prevent him from charging that
turn and will also get him closer to the nearest
enemy than moving normally that turn, he may
do that. Once aboard, the vehicle must always
move in such a way as to move as fast as possible
towards the closest enemy and allow Grotsnik to
disembark and charge the closest enemy as soon
as possible.

Basically any possible action that would prevent moving towards the closest enemy or assaulting would be against maddok's rule in the spirit... and since RAW is questionable in many situations, it really is 'spirit' as RAW prevents him from doing lots of things.

Just be sure not to play it as rage and you will find out all sorts of fun broken game situations

Yes, yes quite.

The Tankbustas MUST attempt to shoot at a vehicle, and you can't charge separate target than the one you shoot at.

So, if the unit that Grotsnik is forcing you to assault, if possible, is not the same one that you shot at (or at least attempted to shoot at), then you cannot assault it.

"can't assault" beats "must assault if possible". Easy, no broken game, just a bunch of orks disagreeing.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
