Nottingham (yay!)

Reminder for those unawares: Poisoned Attacks give you re-rolls to wound if you would already wound on a 4+ due to your strength, Poisoning high str attacks does not reduce chances of wounding.

I found a load of old first series (biped) Tyrant Guard and want to build them into Primes looking like ancient warriors - think Gladiators, Hoplites and the like. I've got a number of existing and planned units that would benefit from a Prime, and in Apoc I'd be wanting to take pretty much everything. Here's what I'm thinking:

The Herald: Twin Boneswords, Scytal, Toxin, Regen.
Accompanies: Swarmlord with Lash Whip Tyrant Guard.

Main purpose is deathstar wound allocation. No need for Lash Whip with Guards throwing it down. Toxin's there to help the unit cut down Wraithlords. No need for Adrenal with Swarmlord able to self-buff and both of them able to firststrike MEQs.

There's an argument to drop all upgrades other than Regen; Swarmlord can FC itself to give S7 A5 ID to give a high chance of killing Wraithlords (which at any rate are a target for Toxin gaunts). Maybe take a Deathspitter to synergy with Paroxysm/Leech at dangerous elites during the big clash; don't want to put -1Ld on morale checks when I'm setting them up for a charge.

---

The Bodyguard: Twin Boneswords, Deathspitter, Toxin, Regen.
Accompanies: Venomtyrant with Lash Whip Tyrant Guard.

Main purpose is deathstar wound allocation and to reduce reliance on Tyrant's Implant Attack for dealing with MC's and IC's. Deathspitter synergies well with throwing Paroxysm/VC at dangerous elites during the big clash; don't want to put -1Ld on morale checks when I'm setting them up for a charge. No need for Scytal as Tyrant has Old Adversary. No need for Lash Whip with Guards throwing it down.

There's an argument to drop the Tyrant's Implant Attack if there a twin Bonesword in the mix to take down dangerous multi-wound foes. Only leaves the problem of TWC, which have other solutions elsewhere in the list.

---

The Centurion: Devourer, Scytal.
Accompanies: Rear/midfield objective holding force of Termagants, Hive Guard and Biovores.
Accompanies Hive Guard unit and provides Synapse support for Termagants and Biovores.

Starts off being used for Hive Guard wound allocation, maybe jump units to help Termagants see off mid-tier infantry. (I have a Spitter & Strangler, Claws, Toxin Warrior unit; this will sometimes join this platoon and take advantage of the buffs, but more often be left at home or land in a Spod for jumping on support units and bullet sponging.)

There's an argument for Lashwhip/Bonesword in place of Scytal to bolster it's 'scarecrow' value as a countercharge assistant, but I'd like to keep it cheap as possible.

---

The Duellist: Twin Boneswords, Scytal, Toxin, Regen.
Accompanies: Lashwhip & Bonsword / Scytal / Toxin Warrior unit.

Fairly obvious purpose, here - buff up a fairly strong combat unit, catch powerfist and melta hits, increase bullet magnetism.

I know T4 3W 4+ is awful for an expensive melee unit, but hey - they'll only appear in Apoc, wherein there'll be a lot of high priority targets for S8

---

The Gladiators: 2x Lashwhip/Bonesword, Scytal, Regen.
Accompanying: Dual Screamer-Killer deathstar, to be FNP'd & Onslaughted by Tervigons.

Hits enemy with Lashwhips to set up Carnifexes. Scytal all round frees up Tyrants for buffing other units. No need for Toxin, the Carnifexes are gonna wound anything.

---

The Gunners: 2x Lashwhip/Bonesword, Deathspitter, Regen.
Accompanying: Dual Dakkafex deathstar, to be FNP'd & Onslaughted by Tervigons.

Adds S5 shooting to Brainleech. Hits enemy with Lashwhips to set up Carnifexes for ID. If necessary, a Tyrant will give the unit PE, so no need for scytals. No need for Toxin, the Carnifexes are gonna wound anything.

If you're Str 5 (he's Str 5, right?) and are attacking T 3, you would wound 5/6 of the time. If you've got poision, you wound 3/4 of the time. So yes, adding poison can lower your chances to wound.

Also, this post sounds like it's a question of which weapons to equip the model with. The biggest answer you'll probably hear will be "magnets." Coincidentally, I agree.

Look at your comment. Back to mine. Back to yours NOW BACK TO MINE. Sadly, it isn't mine. But if you stopped trolling and started posting legitimate crap it could LOOK like mine. Look down, back up, where are you? You're scrolling through comments, finding the ones that your comment could look like. Back at mine, what is it? It's a highly effective counter-troll. Look again, MY COMMENT IS NOW DIAMONDS.

Anything is possible when you think before you comment or post.

I'm on a computer.
