hey guys,

here's are 500 pts list [are 500 pt games common?] that I want to try in my local store.
tell me what you think. I personally think it has a goood combo of anti tank, anti infantry and shooty and CC-ness.

400pts list.


HQ

Captain w/ power sword & SS..........................................................................................125

TROOPS

10 MAN TAC squad W/ Plasma gun + ML[sgt has Combi Plasma & chainsword w/melta bombs] ..195
IN RHINO + HK + storm bolter [are they allowed both? im new]............................................055

05 MAN SCOUT squad w/ HB sgt has CC weapon and BP in razorback w/ TL HBs + HK..............125

Honestly you did pretty good, I only see a few things I would change and you can consider them. Let the scouts have sniper rifles all of them. Then they can work at 36" with the Razorback and be a long range fire base.

The Captain is solid I like what you did here cheap effective in assault with a SS and save's his initiative so that's A+ there but... if you plan on putting him with the tac squad you gotta move them down a guy but considering what you want him to do I would just give him a jump pack or a bike so work out some points.

Far as the Rhino goes if your questions about the Hunter Killer Missile and Storm Bolter the answer is yes you can take both.

Yeah well the problem is the "shortage" of points permitted. but nonetheless, yes the initial plan for the scouts was to secure objectives if there were any, but yes, the reason im still asking questions and all this is because im still reading the rules, and in saying that I only have the battle for macragge rulebook . My armies may not be up to tactical strength yet but I think i've done good paintjobs. [probably because i've been painting them for years -feel free to check some projects of m ine out! http://ultramarinesblog.blogspot.com/. But yes once again, thanks for the advice, the only oncern is not knowing where to get the extra points from, because the codex says I need 10 models to access the weapon upgrades so if I were to drop a marine for the captain do I still get the weapon upgrades or not?

That's a good list for 500pts. You should be able to handle most things your opponent throws at you with sound tactics.

If you drop below 10 marines, you won't be allowed the uprgrades I'm afraid.

Yes rhinos are allowed both upgrades. If you buy the storm bolter upgrade, you get two storm bolters!

This list is a perfect all rounded 500 point list. I have nothing to say apart from good luck and kick some Xenos butt!

Not that it's a bad thing

One is built into the Rhino as it's standard armament, the second is a pintle-mounted upgrade. Double your firepower, double your fun.

I thought rhinos were equipped with no weaponry without upgrades - where's the standard armament?

so what do you just put the both of them on the top?

The kit comes with a pintle mounted optional extra to go with the standard load-out. I'll see if I can find a pic.

Nope, thinking of the old kits. It's been a while since I bought a Rhino, sorry. It may have an extra SB in there. Either way, mounting both on top would do the trick nicely. I suspect one is mounted on the hatch next to the Storm Bolter on the unupgraded model.

Just a little question wouldnt a librarian be a better hq choice with all the options and buffs he can give?

Probably, but I'd be short of points trying to kit him so he's good :\
