Did a quick search in dakka which came up with nothing useful so thought I'd ask this question otherwise I'd have had to post the enevitable "How should I paint my fleet?" thread instead

Basically, as the title suggests, is there a painting program you can use for BFG so I can try out a few paint scheme's on the PC before committing myself to actually painting the things. I know there is one for 40K on boltersandchainswords or something like that but it doesn't do BFG.

I've even gone onto google images to look at pictures of Black Templar BFG (as my 40K army closely resembles the BT colour scheme) only to find all the available pictures of BT were computer generated and in what appears to be fortress grey colours

I imagine the answer to my question is no, but you never know so thought I'd may as well ask. If so, guess I'll just have to try and error. But if you are interested for any reason. The scheme I'm going for is based on the Black Templar colour scheme for 40K. Main body is black, white sections such as the prow. Other tiny parts on the model will have red just to break up the colour but the main theme is black and partly white.

Cheers All

If you have a graphics program that allows transparent layers you can use pretty much any ship picture, convert it to greyscale, then use transparent layers to draw on different colours and patterns.

If photoshop does that then I "may" still have some free demo time with it. I usually only use paint as I'm not artsy enough for anything better. hehe

Photoshop does have it. I believe that GIMP has this capability (and it is free).

Thankies, I'll download it tonight and have a play when I get home. I'm a pretty basic painter so always prefer to plan the colour scheme's before I actually paint them as I hate needing to do extra layers or stripping them.

Cheers

No worries. Though if I knew of a "BFG Painter" I would let you know

Of course, there is always the old fashioned way of looking at other painted examples . There has been some truly amazing stuff submitted to Gothicomp over the years.

Yes, I googled imaged it but found nothing that was close to the paint scheme I was hoping to achieve, even the Black Templar stuff was the wrong colour lol, Fortress Grey

Thank you for the tip, I'm going to google Gothicomp and have a look, I've never heard of it if I'm honest so worth a try. Then I'll have a play with the paint program GIMP that SilverMK2 suggested to hopefully flesh out the idea
