I'm putting together a BA Death Company designed for close combat of course, and someone suggested adding a Chaplain, explainging that this would make the unit even nastier. Since I really have no idea how true this is I figured I would come here for the opinions and advice of the people. Thabks, Mr.Jody.

A Chaplain really is a must if you're running Death Company and have spare points. Give 'em Bolters and watch them go.

Lemartes or just a regular Champlain?

Either way, that squad becomes a nasty beast if it gets in assault

Why would you give them a Chaplain and give the DC Bolters? I must be missing something.

Also, Lemartes with them if you give them JP. No JP, normal Chaplain.

Lemartes makes a mess of combat, the only problem with a dc is the rage issue. I have tried using 5 dc & lemartes in a stormraven with a dc dread in the boot.
It drops them in where you want them and kills everything while the stormraven moves other units around lacing plasma and melta shots into armor.
Bolters on the dc troopers are a waste with a chaplain; having an extra attack with the reroll to hit and wound as it will probably mean another kill each while bolters will just kill a few troops which will be removed from the front rank which may prevent assaulting.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

I 'spose you're right. I should know, having play tested them. It's a rather situational thing though, but most of the time, yes, it probably is better to have all CCW and pistols.

On tactic ive heard about is if you are running lemartes, let him take the first wound to ensure he goes into his berzerk mode. Kind of risky if you nasty in combat

Putting one wound on Lemartes is a big risk. Last time I tried that he killed a tooled out squad of crisis suits with sheild drones before any of the DC got a hit in, problem was him and the death company got shot to hell in the next two rounds of shooting and I lost him after he saved 8 wounds by himself to a kroot rifle shot.

Take a normal chap or a rec depending on what you have the points for and how the rest of the army looks.

Do NOT give them jump packs they are bloody expensive and not worth it.

I would put them in a crusader or redeemer depending how many you have give em a pf or 2 maybe a thunder hammer a pw or 2 and a inf pistol or 2 for wound shenanigans

Overview of the WoC army book.

Thanks for all of your help. These guys are actually being done for re-sale. I do a lot of stuff like this. When it's an army I am not familiar like BA I like to research them and ask the people who actually play them what they think is best as far as arming them and such. I decided on 1 PF, 2PW one being a thunder hammer (that thing is cool) 2 chain swords and BP's. I am still deciding on adding a chaplain or not. As for back packs I am going to paint both kinds and offer whoever wnats them the option of what they want. Jump packs look cool but I agree with everyone that says put em a transport. Thanks all of you for your help. Mr.Jody.
