I'm starting a new army, which is quite the change for me because I've only really had Tau as an army from the few years I've been playing Warhammer. So I decided to go from a shooting army, to a more melee focused army of the Grey Knights (which is also the newest codex coming out, but that's besides the point)

So enough of my chatter, here's my color scheme I'm going for with my GK on one of the older models. I've since finished this model, but I've got to fix the pics of him so here is the WIP in the meantime.

As you can see, I'm going with a half and half theme, which is where the name came from, on my local groups forum someone had called them Brave Heart Marines, so I just took that and ran with it.

I have some more pics that I'm gonna post soon, so stay tuned!

Edit: Ahah! Got better pictures of the finished model!

I got my Grey Knight order the other day, so I figured I'll post what I got!

1 Grey Knight codex
9 Grey Knight boxes
2 Grey Knight Terminator boxes
2 Venerable Dreadnoughts
3 Razorbacks
1 Imperial Strongpoint

I did get all this almost a month ago, so I have worked on most of this stuff, mainly the Termis, Grey Knights and the Dreads.

I've pretty much finished assembly on the Dreads, barring some gap filling and whatnot.

Here are the pics!

This is my first Dread, Lotharius. I was using him as a test for my lightbox backdrop, so I only have the one pic of him

Here is my second Dread, Adelais. I have plenty of pics of him! Still need to work on the gap filling on him though

Here he is disassembled. I used a magnet for his mid section, so he can swivel!

And both together!

As you can probably tell, I used the Ageis defense lines Autocannons to make their arms. Here are a few close-ups

I fixed the bend on the green stuff since this pic

I like how they turned out, although if I could have gotten ahold of the Imp Guard autocannons, I think I could have made them look a bit better, but I couldn't find a fracking place that had them in stock

And to finish off this post, here is my Grand Master built from the Terminator box:

Gotta love magnets!

Any questions/comments/critiques is welcome!

@ InquisitorRoeth, thanks! I'm need to get one of the new models painted up ASAP, so I'll try and get that done and get pics up when I can.

@ Knightley, your GK blog is actually one of the blogs I lurked frequently when I was first considering Grey Knights, love your stuff!

Update time!

I've finished assembling and magnetizing my first Braveknight squad, and here it is:

Group shot

And here is a couple of BKs that I took individual pictures of:

Here's the Psycannon wielder

And finally the Justicar

Just 3 more squads to go... and 5 more Paladins... and 3 Rhinos...

At least I have until August to get everything done.

I suppose I should post an update.

I did some painting on one of the new GK models, and I've got to say, there are extremely easy to paint. Took me about 1 and a half hours to get this far, it is still a WIP

Gah, didn't see that spot. Gotta fix that.

I used my airbrush to get the metals done, layering them like I would with a brush. I think the darker metal looks pretty nice with the bright highlights.

Here's a preview of what I'm working on now assembly wise.

Just finishing up my last few Paladins, and all that would be left is to get a list set in stone (which I think I have so I'm getting close), finish assembling the rhinos and getting it all painted!

I also played a game with one of my gaming buddies against a TH/SH Vulkan list. You know, 5 TH/SH Termies with Vulkan in a Land Raider with a ton of Melta and Flamers. I brought 2 10 man strike squads in rhinos with a Daemon hammer on the Justicar and 2 Psycannons. 5 man paladin squad with just enough equipment to play with wound shenanigans and the Grand master with them. And last but not least 2 Psybolt ammo TL Autocannon Dreadnoughts. Not the greatest list but helped me understand GK a bit more. In the end I won with 5 kps to 4 with just the GM, 3 Paladins and a Dreadnought left. It was a really fun game and I hope to continue playing with my GK and better understand their Pros/Cons.

Next up should be getting that Braveknight done and assembling the rest of the Paladins! Also any questions/comments and critiques would be greatly appreciated!

I know this is gonna sound boring but the scheme needs a splash of red.

Otherwise great work, look forward to more.

Actually I agree with you completely, I plan on making the Stormbolter red, along with the force weapon being a orange, like in my test model.
Plus with all the purity seals and detail, I think there should be enough color to break up all the Blue/Silver.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try and get some more painting done and post some more updates.

Thanks Lipsdapips!

As for the Dreadknight, I'm torn on it. I like the rules for it, a giant walker of doom beating down MC's left and right, but the model (IMHO) sucks...
I just can't get over the diaper and the baby harness... If I do end up running a few, I plan on getting the Dreamforge Leviathan Crusader once they come out with the 25mm model.

Look good with the blue.

What is the background? Are they still part of the Grey Knights Chapter or are they separate?

@Perkustin
Haha, thanks!

@Blood Angel 17
Thanks

I think of them more as a sud-division of the GK. It says in the Codex that the Grand Masters are know to use rather unorthodoxy tactics to win battles, so my Braveknights Grand Master, named Cirus, uses a tactic of distraction, making them look as if they were from, lets say in the 13th century Scotland ( ) and use the confusion of the enemies to strike them where they stand! Or something like that, I'm still working out a background for the Braveknights.

Anyway quick update. I finished the Paladins, so I pretty much have everything assembled.

OH! I also did this;

He's pretty much done, barring his NFS, which I'm going to do a batch of when I get his squad done as to not waste paint with the airbrush.

And just for fun here is an exploded view:

It took me about 3 - 4 hours total to get him done. I made a lot of mistakes and was making changes as I got, so next time if I get it right I think I can knock some time off.

Questions/comments/critiques would be appreciated!

A bit of a small update, I really like the way my scheme worked out, so I'm going full steam ahead to finish up a squad. I've got the first layer of silver on the first squad and I'm working on the second layer. Here's a photo!

(please excuse the mess... I need to clean off my desk...)

Anyway I'm off to work on them. Until next time!

Looking great still!
Cant wait to see more,
but personally, I know that someone said to have more red, but there's possibly too much in that model (imho, its up to you )
but if it were up to me, i'd paint the bolter casing red, and leave it at that, because I loved the darkness of your old scheme, and you could tie in a Power weapon effect similar to the type I use, which is a regal blue undercoat, followed by a lightning pattern of enchanted blue, and then even thinner lightning with ice.
Still, it looks fantastic! Great work! [im subbed too]

@Lipsdapips: Thanks!
I completely agree that there is a bit too much red. I think I'm going to tone it down a bit, just the books and bolter casing will be red. I'm also going to change the power sword as you suggested. Going with the lighting pattern! Thanks a lot for the suggestions!

Update time!

I haven't got a whole lot of painting done on account of my foot being in an immense amount of pain, but I did get some modeling done. I plan on using Crowe in my lists now, just because of a battle between a friend and I both agreed that Strike squads are pretty terrible. So purifiers are the way to go!

Here is my Crowe count-as; Acacius Cait:

A bit blurry but you get the idea.
I'm extremely pleased on how he turned out. As for his name it is a mix of Latin and Scottish (you know, to keep with the whole Braveheart theme). Acacius meaning "Not Evil" and Cait meaning "Pure". My brother made a joke that he would call him Acacius plus Cait, like that show Kate plus eight... So I kinda went with that and named his sword the Balde of Octo, Octo meaning "Eight" of course, haha!

I also have a bit of fluff for my characters, I'm going to refine it a bit and then get it posted up to see what you guys think.

Any suggestions/comments/critiques are appreciated!

Edit: I didn't quite like the sword... so I changed it!

How's this? I gotta fix a bit of it, but I quite like this.

@lipsdapips
Thanks!
I agree he does look pretty evil contrary to his name. I'm looking forward to him and the termies being painted as well!

I've got a bit of an update aswell. Due to finals week, it's not as much as I hoped but it's something.

So I didn't like how the swords were turning into giant carrots, I decided to go by lipsdapip's advice and go with a darker colored sword, more importantly, lightning!

The pictures are a bit dark, but I really like the effect.

And I just didn't like the way Acacius sword turned out, it was too blocky and not sword looking. Here's his new sword;

I took the sword from some High Elf swordsmen. I'm really pleased with him now.

Any suggestions/comments/critiques are appreciated!

(P.S. I do have that fluff I was talking about almost done, I'm just trying to make sure it makes sense, haha. And I've also changed pretty much their whole backstory to a point that it makes sense and are nothing like the current iteration of the Grey Knights )

Yup, Lipsdapips, it was great advice, glad to have it!

I've started painting up my Purifiers and because my list isn't using any Strike Squads, I probably wont continue painting up that squad I was working on until I finish the Purifiers.

Anyway, here it is:

I like the White/Blue combo. I didn't use silver due to the fact the Purifiers usually are white and I wanted to keep the blue the same as the Strike Squads.

Any suggestions/comments/critiques are appreciated!

I've finished the Purifier, it's a bit late I know, but I'm so excited that I needed to post this!

You have no idea how much I love hos this turned out! I can't wait to get a squad to see it's pure glory!

Any suggestions/comments/critiques are appreciated!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
It was pointed out to me that the blade meshed too much with the already blue armor, so I went ahead and changed it.

*this one is a bit blurry*

I think it pops a bit more, no?

The halberd looks great! Maybe you could try like some sort of fire red to orange blend behind the lightning, that would look EVEN cooler! (if thats possible :L) its going really well dude, keep going! I'll be behind you all the way

Okay, I finished the Purifier (again)! I changed up the blade, based it and put a few more details into it. I'm quite pleased with how the white turned out and I'm excited to see a whole squad of these guys!

*note* I know that some of the white/blade isn't smooth, that was due to me doing a few different techniques to get to the white I liked, next time it should be smooooth.!

Here is close up in the blade, I didn't quite like how much the blue blended into the armor, and the yellow blade didn't have enough contrast, so I met in the middle!

Thanks, Lipsdapips, good to hear from you to, haha!

Whew, it's been a crazy week or so for me. I was house sitting for a friend and had a bit of IT to do. I've been busy, but not so busy that I didn't get anything done!

I've almost got a full squad of Purifiers painted, another squad about 1/4 - 1/3 of the way done and another just a little more than primed. I'm planning on getting these guys done before the end of this week (hopefully :p).

I'll try and get some pics up soon!
