Hi all i am starting new Dark Eldar army, i got some models i like but don't know what more i need to get. I am the only one that got or starting DE army in my part of the town so i cant ask for tips from people in real life what good to get or let say must in all DE army's. I don't have to spend lot of money for the big army to test my self, but i know things in the book and on the board can be different. So if you can help ty

I am thinking to make 1500p list and 250 extra when i wont to play on some tournament, bigger game or just to change list hear and there from time to time.
So i who'd like to make assault whit shooting support or 1/2 shooting 1/2 assault. I get for now 1 Ravager, 1 Raider, 2 boxes of Wyches, 2 boxes of reavers. I who'd like to use what i got and add something more, if you played whit DE army can you trow me some tips or ideas what i need to get or what whod go good whit the models i got for now.

I like that you have some idea of what you want to do- Melee with shooting support or a 50/50 mix is a good jumping off point for your army.

One of the things to remember for any DE list is anti-tank. A lot of newbies assume a ravager and a couple of raiders provides enough dark lances, but the truth is that dark lances and blasters aren't as wonderful as they look. You need a good amount.

There are some anti-tank standards that have been doing quite well under this codex, and I'll list a few.

Ravager

"Blast Boat": This is a raider or venom with somewhere between four and six kabalite trueborn on board, and four of them have blasters. This unit is fast, and it can shoot on the move.

Dark Lance Warrior Squad: Self explanitory- Ten warriors with a dark lance and often a blaster. This squad is useful for two reasons. First, it's cheap and it can simply be kept in place for the whole game. They can have a very long threat range towards enemy tanks. The other advantage is that as this squad starts dying, you can remove whichever models you like. This means that the enemy has to kill nine warriors before they can take out the one with the dark lance- assuming the squad hasn't ran in fear.

Razorwing/Voidraven: These can be decent anti-tank options too- especially the voidraven. A little expensive points wise though.

There are also some other anti tank tricks, like giving all your wyches haywire grenades or putting grotesques in a raider with a hamunculus (2 pain tokens = furious charge, hitting vehicles at strength 6).

Besides getting your anti-tank covered, it helps some players to pick an army theme. Do you like armies where everyone's in a transport? How about hybrid armies with a few transports and a few static squads? Do you like the look and feel of a wych army? A kabal-centric army? A coven army? Something mixed?

Maybe there's a specific gimmick you want to pull off- like putting chain snares and shock prows on all your raiders and simply tank shocking your opponent's army. Maybe you want to deep strike everything in. Maybe you want to stick a haemunculus with every squad to toughen them up. It's all up to you.

Nice start to your Kabal. Here's a few pointers:
1) Take 6 reavers. 3 just die too easily & 6 gets the 2nd special weapon. 9 is probably too many. I would'nt get an Arena Champion. I prefer Heat Lances, as they kill ordinary MEQs as well as blasters & are actually better at anti-tank when they close to within 9" (2d6 pen + AP1 for +1 on the damage roll). If you do want to take cluster caltrops or grav-talons, go ahead and put them on the same model as the special weapon.
2) Ravagers should have 3 Dark Lances. Always.
3) At least one squad of wyches should get haywire grenades.

The tactics thread that I wrote above has more than tactics in it. It has kabal list discussions, wych cult discussions, there's a good WWP list discussion going on in another link, my own army is linked in my signature...there are a lot of resources available.

Don't take this poorly please: Dakka is most useful to readers. There are vast resources here for you to tap. READ THEM. Go to the tactics forum, look at the tactics sticky, scroll down to the DE section and pick a few threads to read that sound relevant. There are a few DE lists on every page of the Army list forum here. Read them. See what other people are doing and what critique they got. Decide what kind of army you want to play. Build an army to match that theme. Present your army and your theme and tell people how your interpretation of the codex (list) fits the theme. Let conversation ensue from there.

But what you need to NOT do...is make a thread in Army lists that doesn't have an army list in it just asking the general question of "How do I start my DE army?" It demonstrates an unwillingness on your part to care enough about the subject to look into it, which makes the people you want to hear from not care enough to respond with the answer you're looking for.
