So I have thought about loading up a battlewagon with rokkits.

BW+Deffrolla+4xRokkit= 150.

So you could be throwing out 4 rokkit shots, and you have the deff-rolla to roll tanks with. Granted it is BS 2, but with 4 shots, you should be able to hit with them. I feel like this could be a pretty effective AT weapon. Plus it doesn't diminish it's ability to carry units, so you could have boyz/nobz inside as well. What does dakka think?

The land of cotton.

The Deffrolla and Rokkits are kind of mutually exclusive. If you move, you can't shoot more than one Rokkit but if you don't move, the Deffrolla is wasted.

Why not just take the Deffrolla, Armor Plates, and put a squad of Tank Bustas in it?

I agree that it's either rokkits or rolla, and my personal preference is for rolla, because squishin gitz is more fun than makin em go boom. But if you want a firebase you could do worse than a stationary wagon with 4 rokkits. I'd probably add a kannon (effectively one more rokkit, with the option for a str 4 blast). Since it'll be sitting still, use it as a bunker for lootaz. Then, if you don't need him elsewhere, stick a KFF in it to increase its survivability. Shaken/stunned will be a pain in the ass, but it could definitely put a hurting into stuff within range.

If you put armour plates on it, Stunned is no longer an issue either, and would at least allow you to potentially Tank Shok the unit attacking you if they're close enough.

Personally, I use a 'ard Case Wagon with Killkannon and 4 Rokkits, filed with scoring Nobz or Meganobz to sit on an objective, though a Kanon would be more useful than the killkanon, honestly. I just really like large templates.

A battlewagon with 'Ard Case, an overpriced underpowered wanna-be battlecannon, four BS2 rokkits, and an incredibly expensive group of models.....sitting on an objective. I've got $10 that says my 40 point unit of 10 gretchin can hold it longer than your Battlewagon full of Nobs or Meganobs. Because all those points *I* save are going to be spent on models that are going to go beat up on my enemy so that they don't have time to worry about a unit of gretchin sitting on an objective.

OP: Don't do it.

Yeah, definitely. I may like to do that, but it doesn't mean it's at all useful. I don't really play just to win, but I enjoy experimenting with different units doing different things, and I use what I got (which isn't much yet.)

Well put. My reaction was to just start gut-laughing, but I wanted to put it in a better way. Well put

Yeah, when I thought this up, the whole "only shoot one weapon after moving" slipped my mind. However, I challenge you to take this down with weapon destroyed results lol

I usually put 2 big shootas on my battlewagons (with deff rollas) for that purpose 4 is overkill, statistically they will get a destoyed by that point more than likely. playign the number 2 at 10 points is a safe bet to hedge

I've always been curious why Ork Battlewagons can't get regular Shootas as weapons. More Str. 4 for Defensive weapons.

With your open topped vehicle with a side armor of 12, I don't think I need to kill it with weapon destroyed results lol

If I "arm up" a battlewagon, its with a big shoota and a kannon - you can shoot the big shoota as primary and kannon as a STR4 frag template as the defensive weapon.

Well, yeah. I'm talking more as a sort of Fluff correlary. Defensive weapons are those that don't need a lot of aiming, right? Yes, they're 'represented' as any weapon with a Strength of 4 or lower, but fluff wise, it's 'spray and pray' weapons. So why is it that what amounts to a machine gun, fired by the one race that considers volume-of-fire more important than accuracy, isn't a Defensive weapon? Yes, as a Big Shoota, it's Strength 5, but again, if it were a Shoota instead, well... I'd take, for the same points (5 per), 4 weaker weapons capable of firing 8 shots on the move, above 1 stronger weapon firing 3 on the move, or more only firing when still.

The definition for 'defensive' weapons is totally arbitrary and poorly thought out.

Apart from anything else, str x weapons like the Banewolf's chem cannon count as defensive due to their rules, which is patently ridiculous.

Buying the Kannon and using it as a defensive weapon is a great idea, definitely worth the 10pts.

For 400 dollars I got Jerry Garcia in a pouch, man!

There's just something wrong about the Kannon being the secondary weapon, to the Big Shoota's Primary.
