Hi all Dakkaites,
I have been in the hobby for over 15 years, however, I have not played a game for years. I originally fell in love with the concept of Space Marines falling from the skies to smithe their enemies.
I have a plan to complete 2 independent 1000pts forces that can scale upto 1500pts -> 1 using the Blood Angels codex with all models able to deep strike and 1 using the Space Wolf codex and being all drop pod.
So to start I am taking the Blood Angels and producing a home-made chapter, the Shadow Falcons, please help me out with the following DOA list:-
Librarian + jump pack (125pts)
Sanguinary Priest + jump pack (75pts)
10 Assault Marines + power fist + 2 meltaguns (235pts)
This group is hrd hitting with the Libby and SP boosting the large squads ability to deal and take damage.
Honour Guard + 4 meltaguns + 4 flamers (225pts)
10 Assault Marines + power fist + 2 meltaguns (235pts)
The Honour Guard can deal some serious damage to horde / armour / MCs and also bump the assault squads abilities.
5 Assault Marines + flamer (105pts)
To grab home objective.
TOTAL = 1000pts
To scale it upto 1500pts I would add an Inferno pistol to the Libby, another 10 marine assault squad and a 5 marine vanguard squad with packs and goodies.
So what do you think?

Your list is very good. Can a Honor Guard model really take both a Meltagun and a Flamer? That's an interesting approach to get some flexibility, although it might end up looking silly on the model.
One thing to consider would be trading the small Assault Squad for a unit of 5 Scouts with a Missile Launcher, Cloaks and 4 Sniper Rifles. They are basically impossible to kill via shooting.
When you go up to 1500, I'd suggest adding a third Assault Squad like you have here and a Squad of 5 Vanguard Veterans with Packs and a Power Fist Sarge. That's only 410 total. You could then spend the remaining 90 to take a full Assault Squad instead of the half-sized one you have here (or replacing the Scouts if you go that route). You could drop the flamers from the Honor Guard to give that squad Meltaguns.

Thanks. Yes they can take both weapons - I have a cool idea for a conversion where it's one weapon that can be fired in a spread pattern (ie flamethrower) or condensed (ie melta).
I see the tactical viability of the scouts and thank you for the suggestion though I really want to stick to theme on both forces whilst trying to be competitive.

I did not know this! I thought you could only take one or the other....
for tactical flexability this would be beautiful. and all for 15 pts......

He is correct you can take both!!! Anyway for the list I think the scale up would be a good idea squad of van guard vets and10 more bodies

Are there any experienced DOA players here that can share there experiences around playing a DOA list?
eg. What do you struggle against?
Best tactics? etc....

I have a friend that plays DOA personally not a fan i like running my marines across the board.
Suggestions against IG
Drop your marines behind cover or out of LOS then next turn you move 12 assault 6 etc.
Dont get caught in the open.
Vets are great they hit and tie up enemy units till the assault marines can help out.
(assaulting a squadron of russes breaking the cannon of 1 and destroying one and wrecking the other really pisses them of its good times.)
Strike down away from thunder wolf cav those things scary when they assault makes a mess of assault marines.
Priests all over the place so that as much as possible gets FNP.
Lib with rage and shield is wonderful just in case something goes wrong.
Lots of feet on the ground so lots of assault marines 2 squads of vets that hits hard and is nasty.
3 Squads of devs with missile launchers (as MrE suggested in another thread) works sooooooo well after a vindi and a pred were destroyed round one they broke open 2 rhinos and killed a dread.
(not a single unit came in turn 2 so i was just like what!!!!! really even with re rolls i rolled 1s and 2s)
3rd turn devs eat a tac squad haha 12 missiles 10 marines yea i rolled all 3s and up he had no cover saves.
Everything came in vets punched a tac squad lost 1 guy sadly killed 6 of their guys (1 or 2 died in the explosion of their rhino) They got finished in their assault phase.
Turn 4 everything the opponent had was either in cc or was dead except a speeder that was hiding. that died turn 5
(this was an objectives game 3 objectives (all near middle of the board.)
Over all was effective I had some good luck and MrEs suggestion was great.

I would be that experienced player with DoA considering that is all I play with my blood angels now. I do agree as my units start on the board. Anti-tank is pretty tough to deal with so taking 3 5man devastators with missile launchers is really powerful. The vanguard vets are key in this list. They have the ability to either tie up units or kill them.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I really like your list however I need to stick to the theme of all units deepstriking by jump pack.
Out of interest though did you say all units start on the table?if so, how do you find crossing the board takes it's toll on your units?

Well I take shield of sanguinus and the priests for FnP, I bullrush first turn and run. They will fire at me but I will most likely be out of rapid fire range. The devs stun and blow up(sometimes) any tanks that will be a threat Next turn I can move into key positions for assault then fire the melta guns. with the tanks gone they units will be open to assault I usually lose 8-9 guys which isn't bad considering they are either spread out or just 1 squad is damaged. Thus my other squads can go to town

I run a hybrid list is what people call it some tanks and jumpers.
I run mine across the board and well they live and hit hard and its safer than being in such a small area even if you roll high on your run roll you will still take huge damage from templates.
But shield is awesome never leave home without it.

At best, you could take a Flamer and a Meltagun on the same guy in a 10 man squad, since you can only take 1 special weapon per 5 Marines. I suppose you could give the same guy 2 Meltaguns, but you'd only be able to fire one each turn so that wouldn't make much sense.
