So, I'm about halfway done with a sorcerer conversion for my Dreadlords warband of Chaos Marines, but I've hit a bit of a hiccup. Here's what I have so far:



Eventually this guy will be mounted on a Disc of Tzeentch, but I need tips on how to build one. I also don't quite know what to do about his missing arm. I was hoping to find some kind of outstretched hand that I could model daemonic fire on, but I'm not sure where I can find one that is power armoured. I'm also trying to think of a decent tip for his staff... Other than that it's just a matter of festooning him with the usual assortment of chains.

So, Dakka, what should I do?

Have you considered the open hand from a Space Marine missile launcher? Not sure it'd look right but the first that popped into my head.

I have always wanted to use that hand. Just need to get my hands on one. Would that thumb need to be changed?

Hmmm, that might be a possibility. The only problem now is finding one. I just wish there was an outstretched hand that is perhaps pointing or making a claw that doesn't look awful.... The Chaos Havocs have a pointing finger, but that sculpt looks awfully stubby and doesn't quite mesh.

How about the disc? Any ideas?

There is the daemonic fire arm from the chaos possessed sprue you could use; it's for the left arm too so there's no extra work needed, and the vast amount of stuff you get on the sprues can go towards making more aesthetically pleasing units; i've modeled several possessed khorne berzerkers which look great, for example.

The new Grey Knights sprues have an open hand, a pointing hand, and clutched fists -- you'd still need to find an appropriately stretched arm, though.

Do you have nay 2nd ed tactical marine arms? The left arms had a flat palm for laying the boltgun in (regular marines and chaos marines) As for the disc of Tzeentch I have a couple of the old models somewhere. The one I liked was sort of manta ray-ish and it's what the current screamers must have been modelled on You could use one of those new screamers.
(I can send you some old bolter arms if you want)

I think you are skilled enough to make the same.

About the disc an easy solution is to glue together two small flying bases discs and add some GS and/or spikes/horns, mystical pattern to make it fit the model's mood. Keep the lower side's hole empty to insert your flying base rod.

You're welcome man! Tipios used a regular CSM hand ( the one used to hold a bolter -not the one with the trigger finger).
