So as per usual this is from a necron destroyer wing point of veiw. How do i best deal with people like snikrot? as a necron player i try and keep my warriors as far back as possible, actually, i keep most of my army as far back as possible and basically pressed up against a board edge. This is where snikrot comes in and really ruins my day. He can on average wipe out a squad of destroyers, my warriors in squads of 10 or 11 are actually an even match with wbb so my question is what can i do to spare my warriors all the turns in combat? or my warriors lives? im fairly certain that after he comes in he can move shoot and assault correct? please tell me if im wrong and all tips are appreciated. Thank you.

Maybe keeping the warriors in cover? And AFAIK he can can assault after entering, so he is just a tough nut to crack for edge-hugging stratagems.

If Snikrot is in the enemy army, you have two choices.

1. Wall off a corner of the table with two monoliths and put your army in it with no room for kommandos to get in. When they arrive, kill them.

2. Don't deploy near the table edge. He can't kill what he can't get to.

Your problem is tactics. If Snikrot can come on from any table edge, then common sense says to...either avoid the table edges or neutralize his ability to reach where you are on the table edges.

Ahh i know, i wish i could keep them in reserve the whole game, but every time i keep praying for a low number for reserves on the second turn, and immediately roll 3 sixes. but when i need anything buts to wound a boy squad, i roll all s

Silly question as i dont actually play very often....

If you have reserves do you HAVE to roll for them to come in from Turn 2 onwards? Couldn't you wait and roll for them to coem in whenever you want? You would obviously take the risk of them not comign in ata ll and thus being killed though.

Yea every turn, and worse, if they're dedicated to a monolith and they come in through that, you cant fire the particle whip that turn.

I dont remember anything in the codex about them being dedicated to the monolith. I thought it stated reserves can enter from the table edge OR the monolith portal.

when you reserve the warriors you have to state if they are walking on or coming through the monolith and you have to stick to that.

So yea, what ive concluded is pretty simple: MOAR MONOLITHS dash was kind enough to remind me of the "monolith corner" strategy and when i think about it, it sounds pretty good. Granted i dont have the ability to win store credit and such for my army in things like tourneys but i know someone who is willing to sell them fully constructed for relatively cheap, around 25 dollars. I know the codex is coming out soon but i dont think at any point in time no matter what they do to monoliths in the new one that investing in them would be a bad idea. So yea, monoliths it is.

Interestingly, I have a spare Monolith.

I bought one, traded for two that were already assembled and painted. I broke down both painted ones to strip. I soaked one in Simple Green for three days, then spent about 12 hours of labor scrubbing and scraping paint and primer off before deciding that it was *NOT* worth the effort to strip the second one. So...I bought a fourth monolith and assembled it from scratch, leaving me with a spare monolith - all parts intact, disassembled, painted, ready to be re-assembled or stripped.

$30 and shipping from Louisiana if you want it. =p Then again, you seem to have unlimited access to $25 build Monoliths. Kudos! Open to anyone then.

Dash's tactic is best, but for an alternative you can always leave a C'tan in your rear ranks and slap Snikrot to the floor and use his corpse to mop up the Kommandos when he decides to show up.

Dash has it.

But as an addition, remember you can pull a squad OUT of melee with a monolith port, so I suggest, put a bait squad out, a big one, let him assault, then just port through the monolith, get double WBB rolls and rapid fire the commando unit, ought to wipe them out pretty easy.
